Hi Brian,

At least one of our local tv relay masts also transmits mobile phone signals from the same mast, will the 4g masts all be new ones or will they use existing ones ? if so would that reduce the effective range of the tv transmissions.

Hi Pat,

No its not legal its probably some kind of card sharing if it requires internet connection, these work quite well as long as the people behind it dont get busted.

Be carefull who you give credit card details to & try to use something like paypal if you do this so no bandits get your card details, if they dont want payment & class the service as a gift then only enter into this if you can afford to lose the cost of the equipment & fitting because if the service goes down the equipment is not much use.
Its a risk & the choice is yours.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your thoughts,I totally agree & am concerned as I think you are that the interferance problems are being intentionally downplayed or innocently underestimated.

Hi Les,

Yes mate i've been using it for a while & would say it works well, I can set up recordings directly from the epg. They also recently added youtube, internet radio & online services. I have to say I think it is a very good receiver, connected to a motorised dish I'm using it everyday even though It was originally meant to be a test rig !

Hi Ian,

There could be many reasons, not least that most of us have been to jobs wired by electricians to find things like aerial & satellite have been wired like a ring main or that the cheapest crap cable has been used (unlike twin & earth cable quality is very important) the same goes for faceplates the quality of some we see is worse than the the stuff seen in diy sheds (unscreened stuff of unknown origin etc.) We work with some local sparks & have taught them how to do it right with the right materials & the partnerships work well, but if a guy is going into a unknown sparks work, you cant blame him for quoting for the worst case senario to protect himself. Im suprised that current economic situation you are not doing this work yourself as you say you have the skills required.
As for a 10 week course if you think that is all the decent installers have undertaken you are very mistaken, yes there are some switchover contractors who have a lot less training than 10 weeks but there are also many professional riggers who have as many if not more years in the trade as many sparks & a hell of a lot more than the 4 years at college that you quote.

Hi all,

I'am pleased to let all Star Trek fans know that Star Trek The Next Generation will soon be broadcast on CBS Action.

CBS Action is broadcast via satellite & is found at Sky 148 & Freesat 137 It is also available on any generic satellite receiver connected to a dish aligned to 28.2e (the sky/freesat position). Generic free to air Satellite receivers are available from ebay / aldi / lidl from as little as £25 .

Hi Dave,

Very unlikely you or any relay transmitter that hasn't got them already will ever get them, as always its down to money & a lack of proper regulation.

Hi KOL,

I cant agree with that,

Im happy to see my money fund a corperation thats the envy of the world & famed for unbiased reporting of the news instead of funding a corperation famed for abusing its monopoly in the uk, pricing sport out of the reach of many, bribing policemen & sponsoring criminal acts.

The BBC have a very small budget for television compared to sky, so its no surprise they dont have as much HD & 3D as sky do ! The BBC also has to spend that smaller budget covering public service programming which sky have no obligation to do.
