Hi Conor,

Can you post a link to where your friend is getting his info, as I can find nothing to support his view

Hi Tom,

What I say is " I can fit you a aerial suitable for digital" Which avoids both confrontation with the customer / a discussion about why there is no such thing as a digital aerial ! Half the advice given out is totally wrong (see a recent post about advice given about freesat by a major retail chain or the which report about advices given by retailers.) I dont think you would get hung for letting a customers wrong description go.

Hi Jordy,

I can sympathise mate, I went to quote a hotel a couple of weeks ago, looked over the job & it was around £3500 worth, I gave them the rough price & said I would work it out exactly, they showed me a quote for £1200 & I was in shock as £1200 wouldn't even cover the materials, I told them point blank we could not compete with this as this price wouldn't cover the correct materials & suggested they contact the biggest commercial outfit in wales for a realistic quote to compare with ours, The guy who had quoted had been on a g'teed pass course & worked on the dso contract, as far as we know had no system qualification, the only time we had come across his work was to fit the correct type of quad to a sky dish after he had used insulating tape to make the wrong type fit ! While I was quoting I was asking questions relating to the earthing of the system which received the comment "the other guy didnt ask these questions or mention the system has to be earthed !"

As you can guess he got the job & i was out of pocket 3 hours & 60 miles of fuel. Some developers get what they deserve !

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say the lnb listed above wont fit a sky dish without a adaptor, it will fit a std 40mm choke type round dish without a adaptor

Hi Brian,

Yesterday I received notice from Digital UK that the frequency changes you mention above will happen on 27th April, Channels on 51 will move to 42 & channels on 30 will move to 45 bringing Wenvoe firmly into group B .
The event description is "COM mux power up & frequency change" but it neglects to mention what the erp will be for these mux's after this retune.

Hi John,

You should have itv1+1 on channel 33 If you have pontpool & mendip aerials joined on one cable you may fnd that the english channels from mendip are stronger so your box/tv gives them priority, check all the 800 numbers as some equipment places extra (weaker) channels on these numbers.

Hi jason,

What Brian say's is true freesat+ is the safest most legal option, However what this ebay item claims to do is what many ex sky subscribers would kill for, If you have the money to speculate then go for it & let us know how you get on ! My main concern is that sky would download some software into the box (via the dish) that would defete the mods made to the box leaving you back at square one.

Hi all,

Ive just looked into this & it appears this hack has been running since 08. I cannot vouch for the guy selling the boxes as i simply dont know about him but i would say that if its still working 3 years later, then the hack seems pretty stable.
