Below are all of Dave Lindsay's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Glenn: This site sources its information from Digital UK (www.digitaluk.co.uk/engineeringworks) and Radio & Television Investigation. The former lists no works for the Meridian region, except for Whitehawk Hill, Brighton.
R&T Investigation only reports on issues with BBC broadcasts. You can view it by clicking the link to the right of your posting.
The message engineering works message at the top of the Bluebell Hill page on this website is followed by a BBC logo, which means that it originated from the R&T Investigation site.

Jean Crossan: Pull the aerial out for the first 50% of the scan.
Any issues, post back what they are and I will make another suggestion.

Jean Crossan: What is the make and model of the set; I may be able to find the user manual on the internet so as to assist.

I have a RDR-HXD870 and the tuner went off last night at about 21:15 whilst recording Salt on Film4 (Grr). It then continued to record until I stopped it some time after midnight. This morning I found it sat with "Update" on the display and the fan running.
The tuner does work as a full reset (hold Stop and press the Power/Standby button) wiped it all then Easy Setup finds the channels. On completion of Easy Setup there is brief audio from, presumably, BBC One.

J Carroll: Hold the Standby button on the machine for about five seconds when it locks up, rather than powering off at the mains.
Set the Country to France when doing an "Easy Setup". Presumably France uses a different EPG system as it isn't populated, but at least programmes can be viewed. I guess that the effect is to disable the EPG which appears to be the source of the issue.

J Carroll: Perhaps that is due to the aspect ratio settings in your TV, that is your TV is "squashing" the picture for some reason. I would have a play about with the TV settings, perhaps noting down what it was on before because with these things there are so many possibilities that before you know it you can't get back to where you were previously because you can't remember what it was on!
I have a 4:3 TV and so use "4:3 Letterbox". Having done a hard reset (hold Stop and press Power/Standby on the machine) it comes up in 16:9 squashed.

Chris: Press and hold the Power/Standby button on the machine for about 5 seconds to get it out of the Update state (there is no need to power it off at the mains).
