Section 6.1.1 TV landscape, d) TV set replacement cycle
"Forecasts for the TV set replacement cycle are based on trends on historic replacement cycles...
Ofcom collected and published data on TV sets sold per year in the UK; this was 6m in 2004, rising to 8.7m in 2007. This implies that on average up to 24% of HH acquired a new set (whether primary or secondary) in 2004, rising to 35% in 2007
Based on discussions with stakeholders, it is assumed that the rate of TV purchases by HHs remains constant at 33% of HH acquiring a new set each year; this implies an average TV replacement cycle of 7 8 years until 2015 "

Dave Lindsay: Yes, C32.
I'm rather waiting for Ofcom | UK Digital Terrestrial Television Transmitter Frequency and Site Data to be updated with the new details.
Otherwise I'm sticking with the values that were printed in the licence document.
I don't like using DIgital UK as a primary source because they don't like it.

As it says on the Whitehawk Hill (Brighton and Hove, England) transmitter | ukfree.tv - 11 years of independent, free digital TV advice page
Are you trying to watch these 4 Freeview HD channels?
"The Whitehawk Hill (Brighton and Hove, England) mast is not one of the extended Freeview HD (COM7 and COM8) transmitters, it does not provide these high definition (HD) channels: Al Jazeera HD, BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, CBeebies HD.
If you want to watch these HD channels, either use Freesat HD, or move your TV aerial must point to one of the 30 Full Freeview HD transmitters. For more information see the want to know which transmitters will carry extra Freeview HD? page."

Martin Baines: "I find it increasingly difficult to think of a single reason why we should force people to pay a TV tax and threaten them with prison if they don't."
I can think of a single reason: it costs £58 less. If the BBC were a subscription service, you'd have to fork out £203.50 per household: 40% more.
As for the "threaten them with prison if they don't" the same happens with local taxes and even parking fines.
No one is forced to have a television set.

I just don't get it. How can you have a compulsory payment system that doesn't have a backstop?
- Council Tax,Liability order,attachment of earnings,vulnerable groups,forcing entry,what is peaceful entry?,Magistrate Court Liability Orders
"... your local Council may apply to the Magistrates' Court for a warrant committing you to prison in the event of non payment of Council Tax. "
- Parking fines and parking charges [ 45 KB] - AdviceGuide
"If you don't pay within the correct period of time, the amount you must pay will be increased by a further 50%. It will be registered as a criminal matter and you could get sent to prison if you don't pay up."

"If you're prosecuted for benefit theft you could... get a prison sentence."

Malcolm Styring : Not sure what you mean... DAB radio doesn't have channel numbers.
