Carolyn Wood: Don't bother with the adaptor.

Just use the SCART marked VCR on the Freeview recorder to connect to the DVD Player, and a SCART from the Freeview recorder to the TV.

Put the Freeview recorder into stand-by mode to use the DVD.

Gordon Caird: Assuming your set has an HDMI input, this digital interconnect will provide the connection to the external tuner ("set top box").

If you disconnect the aerial from the TV, this will be fine as you won't really wanting to be using the TV's Freeview SD tuner.
