Gordon Nicol: Yes, that is correct, you will not get Freeview HD from Crystal Palace on C31, you will have to wait for switchover 18th April 2012 when the full-power service starts on C30-.
I think this is because at your location C31 is used at Sandy Heath and it is taking out the signal from Crystal Palace.

Chris - Walkley: The current list is
C47 (high power, 8k), C40-, C43-, C46, C50, C49, C39 (DVB-T2).
C52 is no longer in use.

kb: With the switchover happening on Wednesday 28th September 2011 whatever you have at the moment, the one thing you can't say about it for sure - it's not a "permanent situation".

Colin Wray: I doubt very much if the hill will stop the signal from Sandy Heath on C31 preventing your reception of C31 from Crystal Palace, in particular if you have more than one aerial.

Barry: If you're sure it's not the box, then a variable attenuator is probably the best thing to get,

for example.
