Yes, I know (from this group and others) that the COM muxes are on restricted power and perhaps it would have been better for the appropriate bodies to inform people of this especially as there is no end of aerial installer vans appearing in our area with many disgruntled consumers wondering why a complete change of equipment, retuning etc makes no difference.
It is sad that a change to different channels / bands has resulted in a complete loss of the ITV, 4, 5 channels whereas in the early stages of the switchover they were all present and clear.
Freesat may well be an option but I feel sorry for the multiple households (including mine) that would now have to pay for the installation of dishes in addition to their shiny new supposed digital high gain aerials.
A sad state of affairs and one that should have been be managed better (as an aside I design RF transmission equipment and so have an insight into what may be occurring at Oxford and elsewhere).
I look forward to receiving a rebate on the license fee so we can all go out and purchase dishes.

Please advise whether the main switchover work is complete or not. Since this work started I have gradually lost all channels except for the BBC ones (1, 2, 3 & 4) despite multiple retunes (aerial pointing Oxford). Aerial installers confirm there is virtually no signal at this location (Swindon SN5) despite the high gain aerial. This is a sad sate of affairs when considering ITV and some others were receivable back in the analogue days.

Only ch53 shows any signal and that is poor, manually tuning / searching all other channels shows nothing. New high-gain antenna, all cables and tuner checked and replaced. Sure there are other methods of receiving broadcasts but I think its a sad to go from 6 working channels (showing different content) before any digital work was started to 4 channels (all basically the same because they are BBC) after. Sadly More4, Film4 and ITV etc were receivable earlier this year.
What surprises me is how anybody thinks this is half acceptable and is probably why the UK lags behind most other countries when it comes to anything technical.
I like the allegedly clause and if anyone reads these posts who is actually doing the switchover work then perhaps they could present a true picture of what is actually happening and when so people don't have to go and buy their own satellite just to get basic TV reception (in the very small rural backwater that is Swindon).
I am sure everyone living in Oxford is ecstatic with their reception.

Thank you mst. This shows Mendip as the better choice so will try that before Freesat as a last resort.

It is a sad state of affairs when analogue reception (at my property in West Swindon) was reasonable with a good mix of channels but gradually during the digital switchover (and clearing / retuning on multiple occasions on one of the latest receivers) virtually all channels are now gone with the exception of the BBC ones. I appreciate we are on the fringes of reception but had hoped the transmission of a few simple channels at reasonable power levels could be achieved in this day and age.
Aerial installers have confirmed there is virtually no signal from any transmitter in our region despite the fact we are not living below sea level nor behind mountains.
I am a TV license payer and do expect to be provided with a service, I do not see why I should be forced to pay for Sky or watch TV via the Internet.
Perhaps someone can tell me whether there are issues at Oxford and that someone is aware of them and is working to resolve them or whether the current state is the best we can hope for.
