Below are all of nick(Microsoft mvp)'s postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I called the so called Freeview advice line who hadn't a clue about the missing BBC HD channels on the CP transmitter
all group A aerials on the CP transmitter will need to be replaced I guess with a wideband aerial if you wont to receive BBC HD news BBC4 ETC

MikeP:
I fully understand that mike but where I am near Gatwick my Samsung tv new has to preform at 85 percent minimum for both strength and quality and a wideband aerial in the loft wont reach that level
ok for a Panasonic and Sony tv but not lg or Samsung

MikeP: my aerial dealer only uses triax any good mike ? he has no knowledge of log aerials' that's typical of where I live no one knows nothing about what they should be knowing and yet he makes a good living out of it

MikeP: indeed mike and many thanks. I will purchase it and he can fit it. he installed a Technomate sat for me a couple of years back which was my idea and that works well albeit the wind taking it of course a fraction so he has to keep coming back once a year to realign it
it can't be helped as it's in direct firing line westerly hitting the sat head on and cant go anywhere else because of a wall of trees such is life (lol)

Colin R: well stated Colin
I'm going to wait for a while as I get 10 across the board for quality in crawley where I live on a group a aerial on CP and I don't fancy getting a wideband to muck up what's already perfect just for a few HD channels missing
I use the sat dish for BBC4 HD etc and that works a treat. however its still a hassle in going from terrestrial to free sat on the latest Samsung TV as you have 2 remotes and only one of them will allow to get to that menu for changing over
whoever come up with this changing of channels hadn't really a clue because if you had to remove some channels no problem but any one with common sense would not have removed the HD channels where they are likely to not to work for the majority without additional expense
Remove them all if you must but to remove just a few and leave a few that makes no sense at all

milescad: a Panasonic is far more sensitive then other makes of TV etc. hence you can receive London live on it
Samsung and LG will only operate correctly if the overall quality and strength are above 80 percent and even then they may glitch non and then
my old Panasonic which is still going strong of 8 years never glitches and can receive London live where as my brand new top build Samsung will only glitch
