Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Chard (Somerset, England) mast?

No problems on any service. BBC

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Terry williamson:

"We" are not doing anything! This is an independent help site and we'll try and advise you.
You have posted on the DAB Radio transmitter page but appear to be referring to your DTV signals. I assume that you are receiving your signals from Mendip. There is planned engineering work at Mendip this week with "Possible weak signal" and this is probably the reason you are seeing problems. Do NOT attempt any retunes whilst this situation exists!
If you aren't receiving your signals from Mendip, then we'll need a full post code to advise you further.

Robin Cloke: Times Radio and Scala are both broadcast on the SDL National multiplex, which did expand it's coverage to a number of new transmitters a few years ago, however nothing has been announced about any future plans to expand coverage. You could try contacting the stations to ask if they have any plans to provide coverage in your area.

Chris.SE: I can receive both stations untill I am nearly home. My hame is in a valley (Although at 500 ft). Blind to the Stockland Txer. When DAB was first I had a poor but usable signal, which improved when the Vhartd Txer incd DAB.
I have tried to find a way to commicate with the stations, but cannot find any links??

Robin:

There isn't exactly a large number of transmitters in quite a large surrounding area transmitting the SDL multiplex - it's not on Stockland Hill.
The only ones AFAIK are Exeter St.Thomas, Beacon Hill, Mendip & Bincombe Hill in Dorset, however I'm a bit baffled by the data I can find, that says in the centre of Chard you can only get the main BBC DAB mux with good reception and fair reception of the Local mux carrying BBC Somerset (possibly from the Taunton transmitter), yet a transmitter map suggests there is maybe a commercial multiplex at Stockland Hill (but not SDL or D1). My guess would be that you are receiving Scala and Times Radio from Mendip on the way home as I don't think the other transmitters' coverage would get to the Chard area!
The SDL mux is Block 11A: 216.928 MHz, have you tried manual tuning on your set(s) at home, often auto-tune can miss signals that are weak. Obviously you've got it already tuned in the car!

Scala is part of the Bauer group and they (Bauer and their stations) don't seem to want to be readily contacted by convenient things like email or phone but they do have presence on social media if you use any of that.
Times Radio are also on social media, but do have an email studio@times.radio
If you contact the stations themselves, I'd suggest you ask them to forward your enquiry to the relevanmt engineering people or otherwise you'll likely get a non-committal answer!

As the SDL mux is part owned by Arqiva and Bauer and it's Arqiva that install and maintain the transmitters, you could try asking both of them if there are plans to add the mux to the Chard Somerset transmitter or any other nearby main transmitters.
Arqiva seem readily contactable at radio@arqiva.com, Bauer don't seem to have readily available contacts for the public, the best I can find is their Media Communications Director cat.martin@bauermedia.co.uk

So good luck with that, let us know how you get on.

Edwin McEwan : If you're loosing signal at the same time every day it's usually caused by electrical interference from something nearby operating on a timer. Although if turning your TV off and on again brings the signal back then there could possibly be some sort of fault with the TV, or it may just not be coping properly with the signal loss. How long are you waiting between loosing signal and turning the TV off and back on? Does the signal return eventually if you just leave the TV on?
