eric muir: The BBC National DAB is a UK-wide single frequency service. It cannot carry different programmes in Scotland.
BBC Radio Scotland is carried on the local radio multiplexes - Details of BBC Scotland DAB radio station | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Laurie Fergusson: Have you got the headphones plugged in? Most pocket radios use the headphone lead as the aerial. Please provide a postcode so we can see which DAB services should be available at your location and where you are in relation to the transmitters that broadcast those services.

Is there an update on the Glasgow South local DAB plan to bring local digital radio & BBC regional DAB to Dumfries & Galloway? Listeners require a WiFi digital radio or tablet to hear BBC Radio Scotland & Westsound FM without hiss on a radio set throughout Dumfries & Galloway region!

This week I seem to be getting a DAB radio signal which is intermittent and mostly non existing. I am unable to connect to FM. Why is this?
Can you please sort it so that I have my radio. It is my lifeline to the outside world

Dorothy Skinner:
Without a full postcode, it's not possible to be certain which transmitters you may get your signals from.
If you are in Dumfries itself, there are no reported problems by the BBC with their DAB transmissions from the Dumfries and Galloway transmitter.
Exactly which DAB stations are you having a problem with? Is this a portable receiver or one using an external or loft aerial?
With regard to FM, you may get your signals from the Sandale transmitter SW of Carlisle and this transmitter is on reduced power due to essential engineering.
We cannot "sort it" as this is a free independent technical help-site. We can advise of any known issues given the right information and who to contact should your problem persist outside of transmitter maintenance.

Are there any plans to extend DAB coverage to rural Galloway? I can't get BBC FM here - a local quirk and very annoying.

Steve Connelly: There may be some additional coverage provided to fill gaps when FM services are switched off, but this is likely to be around the end of the decade and so far no plans have been announced. Listening online or via Freeview or a Sky/Freesat box are generally the easiest ways to listen to stations which don't have coverage at your home.

Steve Connelly:
Yes, the BBC have limited DAB coverage in Galloway with transmitters at Dumfries South, Thornhill, Barskeoch Hill (to the east of Castle Douglas), Langholm, and Moffat North
AFAIK there is no Commercial DAB coverage in the area.
You must be unlucky not to get FM (you haven't given a postcode for your locale) there are BBC transmitters at Girvan, Sandale (sw of Carlise), Kirkconnell, Darvel and Black Hill which give coverage in various parts of Galloway.
