Can't see this gathering much support in the Tory party. This is all part of a long-term strategy to reign in the BBC and deprive it of funding. After all the BBC is full of lefties isn't it?
However, they have recently done a u-turn and re-funded the World Service from central government. Mainly because they realise what a good propaganda tool it is.

Combined with cuts to the NHS should ensure this fails to raise any money as their will be no one to pay the fee.
This is clearly a political plan designed to damage the BBC, but I suspect it will do more damage to the government as old people vote.

It's hit the news again recently. My old Mum has just qualified to receive a free T.V. licence, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that they want to whip it away. Utter B$*@#d's.
