I think this stereotype that elderly people can't use modern technology is often incorrect. I run a business which has a lot of elderly customers, many of whom use smartphones and tablets on a daily basis and have cable or fibre based broadband in their homes. It depends on the mindset of each individual, but there are many out there who, with some help, are willing to learn and use newer technology when they see how it can benefit them.
