Read this: Privatising Channel 4 will harm UK 'levelling-up' plan, warn TV bosses

Summary: Privatising Channel 4 would sabotage Boris Johnson's efforts to boost the British economy and cut future tax revenues by hundreds of millions of pounds, senior cabinet ministers have been warned. In their letters to the three ministers, which have been seen by the Guardian, the executives argue that Channel 4 plays an essential role in supporting and nurturing British broadcasting talent, making UK-wide programmes, in Glasgow, Belfast, Bristol, Cardiff and Leeds. - www.theguardian.com

Pretty convinced that the Guardian posts a load of sh**e nowadays. Read something last night about how no one is watching Forces TV channel. I think they've been misinformed.....or simply telling lies as there was lots of comments afterwards from people telling how Forces TV and Talking Pictures is their favourite channels. Its amazing really that they allowed the posts to stay on their comments section.

Robert:

There seems to be quite a following for Forces TV, people aren't sure what will happen to it when COM7 closes at the end of June, Talking Pictures also seems very popular, but that's on ArqB/COM6.

Whilst the Guardian seem to publish all sorts of ........ especially it seems if it's mud they can chuck at the Tories or Boris, so can't be relied upon to be factually accurate. Too many of the mainstream media seem to like covering certain events "out of context" so the public get the "wrong" impression.
However, the more publicity about the public not wanting to see C4 privatised the better IMHO!

Forces TV is probably the best channel on Freeview right now so it doesn't surprise me that someone somewhere wants it off our screens through planning or neglect.
Never understood all this Channel 4 privatisation nonsense as it would seemingly already be in private ownership as it certainly isn't state owned or state run like the BBC.

Robert:

You are totally mistaken if you think the possible loss of Forces TV when COM7 closes is a case of "someone somewhere wants it off our screens through planning or neglect."

Robert: Forces TV is run by BFBS who are a charity. If they can find enough budget then they could take some of the currently available capacity on another multiplex when COM7 closes next month, or they could launch an online service which may well be more cost effective. There's also no indication that they will close on Sky/Freesat, which they have been broadcasting on since long before they joined Freeview.
