Freeview modes
Two of the Freeview multiplexes (collections of channels) broadcast in one mode known as "64QAM mode, FEC=2/3,", and the other three broadcast in another mode called "64QAM mode, FEC=3/4".
The " FEC=2/3" mode provide a more reliable signal than a "FEC=3/4" mode signal at the same power level, but there is a trade-off that means less digital data can be carried.
This diagram shows the current channels carried on the Freeview system. The wider the box, the more bandwidth is used to carry the pictures. The more bandwidth used for a service, the better the picture quality.
Boxes split horizontally denote channels that occupy the bandwidth at different times of the day.
The third line shows the configuration of the BBC "B" multiplex switchover which is used for HD and is in another mode DVB-T2 256QAM.
64 QAM (3/4) mode
In this mode, the digital TV signal is transmitted in groups of 64 symbols. The "forward error correction" is 2/3, and this results in a bitrate of 24M.1b/s (megabits per second). This can be used to carry up to eight simultaneous television channels.64 QAM (2/3) mode
In this mode, the digital TV signal is transmitted in groups of 16 symbols. The "forward error correction" is 3/4, and this results in a bitrate of 27.1Mb/s. This can be used to carry ten simultaneous television channels.nikki: Do you have some sort of booster or amplifier?
You might want to check the cables are in good order.
Also, can you tell me your postcode?

Hello
I have various TV's and PVR's in the house. All has been fine up until about one week ago. It seems thatthat multiplex 2 has just vanished. On the diagnostics on one tv it shows zero signal level. All the TV's are connected from a labgear amplifier in the loft.
My postcode is AL4 9PE. Aerial is on Crystal Palace. Every other station seems fine on all sets. This just happened overnight. One of my sons school friends seems to have same issue in nearby area
Any ideas gratefully received
Thanks
Mike

Hi there,
I have just fitted a wideband aerial on my roof for the changeover. Unfortunately, I can't get Multiplex 1 - BBC1, BBC2, NEWS24 etc. from the Craigkelly Transmitter. Can you help me out please?

I get freeview from Sudbury and find that ITV, Channel 4 and 5 are often not available.
This may be due to inversion, I don't know.
Will things improve after switchover or will I loose everything except BBC?
Postcode is CO4 5TT

David Wright: I would see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - it may change at switchover, but this depends on the cause of the problem.

For the last 3 or 4 days reception of ITV3 and its associated programs has been poor. I am within sight of the Wrekin Tx, and ITV3 comes in on RF channel 49. Signal strength on Mux 1 &2 is fine. There are some trees in the line-of-sight but only Ch 49 seems to be affected. On 28 Sep 2011 I believe ITV3 will move to Ch 41. Will the signal strength be boosted then, or will I have to think about tree surgery?

Hello
Is it possible to tune in manually the HD channels? (I live in NE4 6BL)and I'm using a freeview HD TV (Samsung UE32C6700) and an indoor aerial(One For All SV9215 Flat Antenna) and everything works fine, excellent reception on all freeview channels, but no sign of the HD channels, despite retuning. Must be doing something wrong...
Cheers
