What price for an aerial installation?

What prices have you been quoted and paid for an aerial installation?

What prices have you been quoted and paid for an aerial install
published on UK Free TV

In responses to the guideline I posted about how much having a new aerial fitted should cost, Ian Grice posted: "£40-£50? Every aerial fitter I contacted wants at least £150+VAT considering you can get a class 3 aerial for under £10 and a class 2 for under £15 and cable is 40p a metre why are they charging so much for 30 minutes work?"

OK, for some places putting up a TV aerial is hard work, such as multi-story properties. As many people will simply be exchanging a Group A, B, C/D, E or K aerial for a wideband type, often without changing the supporting pole or cable, a high price cannot be justified.

I am concerned that some companies will exploit vulnerable groups (such as the elderly).

So, I what prices have you been quoted for aerial installations? What price have you paid for installation?

Do you know of any companies to avoid? Do you know of any companies that are good value for money?

Or do you work for a great aerial installation company?

nick and MikeB: thanks a lot. I am very grateful to you for giving me the heads up. It didn't seem right to me. Shalln't be getting back to the chap now.

Now shall try and find someone else and I guess I'm better equipped now as I've got a much better idea now of what I should really be paying....well I know it shouldn't be silly money! Man alive, I can feel my brain cells fizzing now.

I see Action Aerials are advertising 'Complete TV Aerial installs from £59.97 including VAT'.

That's about £49 without the VAT.

I'd just love to see the quality of the materials and installation on one of these job.

No doubt in time to come, when the original fails, I will.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

mark winters : Although you might well be getting the same signal on both channels but are you purely referring to the strength? because the quality is far in a way more important than the strength and what you have reported is inclined to suggest that the quality is erratic, should this be the case then I would advise check with a neighbour or whoever to find out if they are also experiencing similar problems, because if they are then the cause of the problem is outwith your control.

thanks for reply jb38 they say there isn't a problem with the transmitter ive got 2 jobs with the same problem .itv breaking up for the last 6 weeks .all I can think that has changed is the leaves and tree growth .both aerials are in the loft at present .because there is such a good signal on c 25 59db quantity not sure if it would improve much by putting them outside
