Oh dear. Failed to show up twice this weekend for a motorised installation. Phoned on Saturday to say they were running late, and would be able to come on Sunday. Failed to show at all on Sunday. The whole weekend wasted. What a load of cowboys!!!

im really worried now. have an aerialforce engineer coming tomorrow between 8am-12pm to disconnect an old cable and put a new one on my aerial and run it 10m across an extension and through an upstairs bedroom wall from outside to inside. To me that seems a pretty simple job, i just dont have the tools and all my local businesses are snowed under with work so i shall let you guys know how i get on! Location is West Dunbartonshire in Scotland. I would think £60 tops for the job, will see what my quote is when he turns up, anything over £70 he'll be told where to go...

adc82140 - I would be looking elsewhere given Michaeloxford's posting. Installing a
motorisied system needs patience and accuracy in configuration to give results. If this is the way they business all your going to get is a lot of heartache here. I would look elsewhere and get a competant installer (preferably with recommendations) rather than what appears as a suspect outfit where your likely to get ripped off.

so, job done, received a call around 8:30am saying they would get here between 11-2pm, arrived 11am on the dot which i thought was quite good. Explained the job and was quoted £65+20% vat so £78 in total. A bit much i thought. Just wanted the job done so went with it. There were two guys, seemed to know what they were doing, job took about 15mins and they did everything i asked. Once they left i checked the roof and the indoor connection. Perfect picture on tv however the job did seemed completely rushed and i even overheard them say 'we need to make this a quick one, we need to be at the next place by 12' which was pretty unprofessional. Glued a shield on the outside of the house to cover the cable hole which im sure will fall off the next time it rains heavily and the indoor wall circle they used wasnt even fixed onto the wall, was basically just a stopper on the cable. All in all, a very rushed job by guys that knew what they were doing however far too expensive, especially as all i got was 15m of cable and a hole in the wall. Cant complain about the picture though.

To confirm previous comment, the receipt form actually says: 'aerial solutions' and then has an aka underneathe with 4 other company names which does seem like theyre trying to cover themselves from bad press.

Hope this helps you guys, kind of wishing id read this thread before i called them. Definately stick to word of mouth, local tradesmen, saves you a lot of time, hassle and money.

Wow! I was just about to suggest Aerial Force to my landlady to troubleshoot our TV reception problems. On a whim I gooogled "Aerial Force complaints" and found this site.

Can anyone offer some advice? I just moved into a flat and there's a cable from the roof coming into the living room through a hole in the wall. The cable was stripped at the end so the copper wire was showing. As a quick fix we plugged an RF cable into the TV and connected an adapter to the other end whcih allows you to connect two male RF cable plugs together. Instead of another cable we put the copper in and taped it in place against the wall. We got good reception this way but for reasons to long to go into here, we had to remove this quick fix from the wall.

I bought a coaxial plug to attach to the cable thinking the connection would be more sturdy. It worked well for a while but over a few days the reception deteriorated. I tried re-fitting the plug but this didn't help. I then tried to revert back to our quick fix but, alarmingly, this didn't work anymore either. It was while doing this that I noticed that the reception improved or worsened depending on where I positioned the cable. I refit the plug and taped the cable back against the wall where I could find the best reception and we got most channels very well but are missing others.

The problem now is that the reception isn't consistant. On our best day we never have all the Freeview channels but sometimes we have good reception of most channels and other times we only receive a small handful of channels. Sometimes reception will be fine and then will start deteriorating to nothing literally before our very eyes!

I'm getting fed up now and just want a solution. The fact that we sometimes have good reception and that simply moving the cable seems to affect reception quality leads me to suspect the problem requires a minor fix of perhaps a loose connection, but I'm not an expert.

Any ideas?
