jinxy209: I assume that tennants' contracts may state who is responsible, if at all, for provision of any communal aerial system.
Do you not have an aerial system already? If so, have you tried tuning in Freeview and if so, what do you get?

Hi Dave, currently we have a cable system into each flat, and the main communal aerial was disgarded for this a number of years ago.The council are tendering out the contract to install a communal one which involves rewiring into each flat. I am only able to get the regular 5 channels and do not wish to subscribe to virgin/sky as the main councellor dealing with this thinks tenants should!

jinxy209: If you get 5 channels using a set-top aerial, then you may be able to receive Freeview channels from tomorrow.
If you face Crystal Palace which is south west, then you have a better chance than if you don't. The higher up you are, the greater your chance of receiving signals. So if you're above the rooves of surrounding buildings and facing south-west, I think you have a good chance. If your lower down it may still work.
If the powers that be will be installing an aerial system in the coming weeks (or months), then you will need a Freeview receiver. If your TV does not have one built in, then you might as well buy one now and try it out with your set-top aerial.
If your flat faces a different direction, you may be able to receive from another transmitter. Woolwich is to your north east, although it doesn't broadcast all the channels, but it does give you more than the current five "main" channels.
If you would like some help with this, let us know some more information such as how high up you are and what direction you are facing.

On the 4th of April 2012 following switch over I re-scanned my digi box and sucessfully recieved all free view channels. 2 days later I lost all ch4, ch5 and Itv channels on BOTH digi boxes in my house (2 x TVs). I have continuusly re-scanned both digi boxs but am not able to revieve the above channels.
I have a new digital arial installed in my loft and have never had a problem recieving free view before.
Can anyone suggest what the problem may be please?

Mark: It's probably the difference in strength between the now strong BBC signals and the (weaker) other channels.
Tomorrow you will have to retune again, once all the non-BBC channels have also switched to full power. So your problem should hopefully be rectified tomorrow.

I am on the Mickleham transmitter. BBc cahnnels switched over last week and received OK. Re-tuned today to pick up other ITV channels. They all tune in OK but reception is very poor on all new channels with picture breaking up. All BBC channels are still working OK. I have reset digiboxes and re-tuned with no success. Any suggestions?

Hi all, can some one advise please. I live in the Portsmouth area and do not seem able to recieve the Freeview HD channels. I have tried retuning and switching off and unplugging every thing but to not avail. I have a Samsung LED built in freeview HD TV. aPPRECIATE ANY ADVICE ON THIS :-)

Recently moved to Manchester postcode M32 8QU. Have had new digital aerial installed replacing ancient type. Worked well for two weeks. Now experiencing interference on BBC channels and Film4. Clicks, spikes, pixellation and signal loss are typical. Occurs intermittently for prolonged periods during day and evening.Home electrical equipment not responsible as thoroughly checked. Digibox OK too as same problem occurs with TV with inbuilt digital tuner. Neighbours not helpful on this as they do not seem to watch much TV. Possible causes?
