Our digital signal for ITV has disappeared in the last week - can you tell me w
Sometimes people experience problems with the ITV/C4 multiplex (and also the one that carries five) because of the different transmission mode that allows more channels to be carried, but reduces the effective signal strength.
Freeview modes
This can sometimes cause problems when the weather changes (due to the inversion effect).
If you rescan for channels on your box and don't get the ITV/C4 services restored, then you may need to get a new Class I aerial to get reception all the time. However, you should check your cables and connections are in good order first.

I use a satellite dish with grundig freesat decoder - last week I lost channel 4 Film4 and their +1 channels too. I've repeatedly done first time install and checked all cabling but to no avail .
The dish seems unchanged outside - any ideas?

Gkirsty: Have you tried disconnecting the box from the mains supply before carrying out the "first time install"? If you have and Ch4 etc is still missing, are you able to view Freesat 608 (CBeebies) or 800 (QVC)?, if neither, then this can be caused by one of the following reasons.
(1): A fault having developed in your Freesat box, try carrying out a complete reset. (if menu allows).
(2): A defective LNB (mounted on the dish arm), or
(3) Water contamination inside the "F" connector (on end of coax) screwed into the LNB.
Maybe you could indicate the model number of the Grundig box in question?

The responses to this problem are unacceptable. ITV etc should ensure that the signal is as strong as BBC then the problem would not exist.

Tony:
Generally the multiplex used on main transmitters for ITV is the same output power as that for the BBC channels, it is normally only the DVB-T2 multiplexes (used for HD mainly) that may be a lower power output - but not always. The 'Freeview Light' transmitters do not transmit all the channels, that being decided by the commercial broadcasters on the basis of how many viewers they might reach and hence determines the potential income from advertising.
The output power of any multiplex is a matter for the operator, Arqiva, in conjunction with the broadcasters and Ofcom.

To be able to offer any advice, we need to know your location, given as a full post code (or that of a very nearby shop/post office).
With that information we would know which transmitter you should be using, whether there is any engineering work currently, whether there are any obstructions between you and the transmitter, etc.

Marilyn shaw: Assistance can only be offered to queries of this nature if a persons location is known, this preferably being in the form of a post code or one from somewhere nearby, e.g: a shop inc post office, as only then can details of the transmitter covering the area, plus an assessment of the reception possibilities in said area be made.
Regarding the "gadget" you have been sent to place at the back of the set, are you referring to a 4G filter sent by a company called AT800?
