My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Absolutely fabulous. After hours of fruitless work trying to reclaim my lost BBC1 and 2 programmes after Phase1 of digital switchover, following your detailed Freeview box reset procedure solved the problem immediately. All other advice was simply to do a full channel rescan, which did not work. Thanks a million - so easy when you know how.

I'm in Brighton, and after I lost all channels due to phase 1 (on the 7th) and retuned everything, both my Sony tuners are still picking up the old BBC multiplex (We've got an easy way to see if it's retuned properly, as our regional programmes move from South to South East).
Problem is the signal is weak to non-existant.
I know the tuners have found the stronger new ones, but they just wont use them.

Simo: What do you mean by your tuners "are still picking up the old BBC multiplex"?
The signal you refer to as being "weak to non-existant"; is it that you've picked up the new high power BBC signal from Rowridge on channel 24 instead of the new high power one from Whitehawk on C60? Or the Whitehawk one is in the 800s?
Whilst on a particular programme channel, being up the signal strength screen and hopefully it will tell you the UHF channel it is tuned to so that you can identify which signal it is receiving.
If the problem turns out to be picking up signals from Rowridge, then Rowridge uses low channels and Whitehawk high ones. So run the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged for the first 50% of the scan to avoid Rowridge and get Whitehawk.
If your receivers give UHF channels as it scans, then Whitehawk uses channels from 48 upwards.

roger: Sorry to tell you this, but your TV will not work after switchover due to the change in mode.
It is on Digital UK's list of "2k equipment".

Hi Dave,
That's actually a good idea. YES, the new multiplex it's trying to use is way down low on the scale.
It's just a bit odd that Sony tuners are so dumb.
(Other branded ones have coped fine).
I've bought a new Technisat HDFV... works like a charm (although I don't like South East News !).
