My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

jb38 Thank you for the guide, I have done the signal check and am on Craigkelly and receiving on Channels 21,24,27,39,42 but I am still missing 45.
I have checked for the usual interference sources there are none, and to answer your query about aerial distubance during work- I am sure that this has not happened.
ANy further help most welcome.

Sam: Well, although Craigkelly has been confirmed as the station you are receiving from it was really the signal levels (strength / quality) of the two (initially) channels in question that I was particularly interested in, as I suspect that your problem is likely being caused by the signal level received from Ch45 being under the reception threshold level of your TV, as indeed is possibly your own suspicion hence you having commented on an amplifier.
If your TV has a manual tuning facility you should carry out a signal level comparison check between Ch45 and either Ch42 or Ch39 as these three muxes all transmit on 10Kw whereas the three PSB's are 20Kw.
If its found (as is likley!) that Ch45 is a little lower than the other two then the item below is virtually guaranteed to cure the problem, and with it being a variable gain device you can set it for the best results.

Hi, I receive TV from the Waltham transmitter (post code - NG31 7FJ) and retuned my Humax Freeview box as instructed by the onscreen message on the 19th September. However, Im still receiving the onscreen message and if I dont click on later the box automatically retunes but not to the strongest signal channels, e.g. East Midlands. I would be very grateful for any advice. Many thanks & kind regards, Wendy

Wendy: What model of Humax do you have? and are you sure that this message is not originating from your TV and not your box? as although Humax boxes have an automatic "software" updating facility this doesn't extend to it updating channels by retuning itself is concerned.

When I switched on TV yesterday eve I was requested to re-tune which I did but discovered that no recordings had been made from midday yesterday and I had no programme information going forward and no further recording can be made due to no programme information available. I have re set as per the information above but to no avail. Everytime I turn the TV & box on and off I am being "welcomed" and asked to tune the box??

I have lost PSB2 and COM4 due to the midhurst engineering works today - when can I expect to get transmission back or do I have to retune?

Ann: You need to retune as they have changed UHF channel/frequency.

Wendy Leak: That model in common with most other Humax boxes does not carry out auto searches for anything other than software (operating system) updates at 04.00am every morning, that is provided that the box has been left on standby, and so this message you are getting has to be from the TV.
The next time you see this message cancel it off, but just as a test (on Humax) you should press: Menu / settings / installation / software update and change the options to "manual update", and see how that works out.
