My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

From Malcolm Lowe - Chris, thanks for your reply. Yes the signal for me at BH17 7JG comes from the Isle of Wight. You are certainly correct when you say the reception here is variable. Most of the time now it's totally non-existant! I now only have ITV 1 and ITV 4. Nothing else. Do I get a refund on my TV licence? You suggest that I retune on various channels but I have no idea what that means. All I can do is get the TV's own re-tune menu on the TV screen and get it to re-tune, it picks up virtually nothing now.

Hi, I have re-tuned our 2 TV's and have lost CH19 Dave along with others on this string on one of the TV's. The LG picked up everything OK but the Samsung did not. Both are fed from the same ariel with a splitter.
I have tried re-tuning without the ariel connected and also have completed a factory reset on the Samsung all to no avail.
Not sure what could be tried next so any suggestion would be appreciated.

Malcolm Lowe:
The problem might be that you have two Local "Light" transmitters near you, one at Poole, one at Canford Heath. Both require an aerial vertically polarised (rods vertical) but if the signals aren't rejected sufficiently by your horizontal aerial the set can still tune to them. Canford Heath is the weakest and most unreliable, if you happened to end up tuned to that you may only get those ITV channels BUT you should have a lot more that just ITV1 & 4 you should have others and Channel 4 and 5 etc. It sounds like your set's memory might need clearing.
Unplug your aerial and do a full automatic retune, no channels should be found and the memory should be cleared. Plug the aerial back in and carry out a retune again and see if this has restored all your channels.
You haven't said if your set has an HD tuner and can get the HD channels (normally!).
If having done the above hasn't resolved the problem, you may have a problem with your aerial installation or connections. I'd suggest you check all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. See what signal strengths and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in your TV's tuning section, this might indicate potential issues with your aerial or downlead. Also check that your downlead looks undamaged and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction.
Problematic connections, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just an individual or several multiplexes.
Having done that, when you go to your set's tuning section it should give you the choice of doing an Automatic Tune or a Manual Tune, does it not do that? If it does select Manual Tune, it should then allow you to choose the UHF Channels to tune, so select each of the channels in turn that I listed in my previous post for you.
Post back again if you are still having problems.

If you provide a full postcode then we can check which transmitter you are receiving, whether there's any Planned Engineering and what your predicted reception is likely to be.

Hello,
Since the "upgrading" of the Oliver's Mount area, we are having to retune our smart LG TV on a regular basis. We can get BBC channels on the Humax box but not on the TV. We have tried it several times today and although it say we have 113 programmes - it is not saving them.
Can you help please?

Amanda Michele Henderson:
To be clear, this site does not say any more than the information its given - it's an independent help site. Where did you see that there was "no problem" with the Whitworth Transmitter?
BBC faults information is normally posted up on the specific transmitter page - it's usually an automated process. The BBC site Advice about receiving TV and radio | RTIS does show that there was a fault and it was off-air from 9:07am to 3:25pm on 19th Nov 2019. Hopefully you have now got your signals back.
