The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

Tvs both have installed freeview, I have two hard drive freeview boxes but since moving neither will work at the same time. Can only record if I use scart as tvs say no signal, or detached boxes and use tv normally. had no problem switching from one to the other before.,

marian Edwards: check your manual, it sounds like the aerial leads are not connected properly. You should have a lead from the aerial socket to a recording box, and then another aerial lead to the tv. This means that both will get a signal, even if one is switched off - this is how the manual will advise you to do it.
You also need a hdmi (if poss) or scart from the recorder to the tv, to be able to watch what you have recorded. If you want to attach two recorders to a tv, you can connect them both in the same way, but with both recorders attached to the tv bu scart/hdmi as well.
Whatever happens, they must all be connected to the aerial.

Daiva: As you would appear to live in a block of flats then the suspicion must be that you are using a communal aerial system. If this is the case then it is possible that the aerial system is at fault.

Enquire with neighbours in the building. Be aware that this may not affect satellite reception (Freesat, Sky etc) and so some might still have television if they are using a satellite service.

dand: If you still have a dish, why go out and buy an aerial and Freeview box? You've should've just used your old Sky box to watch Freesat.

When you say you got an aerial, I presume you mean an indoor one? Indoor aerials don't normally work unless you are in a strong signal area - Freeview is designed for outdoor aerials.

Dand: Michael is right - you could get a freesat reciever for £49, or just used the old Sky box. The Goodmans boxes are not all that great, so I'd take it back if poss (I've got one, so I'm familiar with the limitations).
If you do get a decent aerial, you should get a ok signal from Hannington.

Recently moved in, there was an aerial socket in the wall so I plugged in my aerial from the telly and tuned the telly in. The picture was fine. Recently writing has been scrolling across the screen to say analogue TV will cease on the 29th November 2013. Low and behold on the 30th my TV channels had all disappeared. I asked a neighbour and she said the previous people were on underground cable. I'm a single parent on JSA what do I do next, who do I contact and can I get help with any payments? Thank you in anticipation. (Don't like the thought of my daughters having no telly over Christmas). :(

Una: That would probably be the free analogue Virgin Media cable service that was switched off. I think your options now are to either: pay Virgin media for the upgraded, normal service; install Freesat or use an aerial to receive Freeview.

If you are living in flats or similar then there may be a communal aerial that comes into the property (maybe ask the neighbours?); if not then you would need to get an aerial installed. It will probably need to be a rooftop aerial as an indoor aerial will be no use so far from the Sandy Heath transmitter.

If you provide your postcode we can check the predicted coverage in your area.
