What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

I had a spare satellite dish which I moved to 19.2 to get European stations. When the lnb packed up I found an offer of a new twin offset lnb at the same price as a normal one. I didn't know that my dish was too small but fitted it anyway. The 19.2 signal was improved in both quality and strength . I have just retuned the box and now find that I am getting not only 19.2 but the majority of 28 programmes. Is this an anomaly (I live in Poole Dorset) or has something else changed.

Further to your article regarding loss of signal it may be useful to read the following comment.
I purchased a satellite kit which had all of the components necessary to receive free to air transmissions. At a later date I upgraded the receiver with a freesat box and used the existing set up with the addition of a further cable to the new dual LNB.
The freesat box started to lose channels. I investigated and found that the original cable (which was only four years old) had perished on the inside due to inferior materials.
Other people must be having this problem. The kit was manufactured by Ross (it had a Ross box).

Davy Graham: If you are referring to a Sky box? try disconnecting it from the mains for 20 seconds or so before reconnecting it again, if this doesnt resolve the issue, then water might have gained access into the "F" connector on your dish partially shorting out the band switching commands sent out by the box to the LNB, this seriously restricting what you can view, as of course will also be the case if the dish has moved slightly out of alignment.

I have suddenly found that the following channels are showing NO SiGNAL. 403,410, 106, 107,108,121,129,152,156,157,185,218,249,253,254,501,505 and 506. Ipay Sky for all but the film channels. I waited to see if it was the weather but that has changed many times. I live near Chester.
Can you help?

Phil S: Have you tried disconnecting the box from the mains for 20 seconds or so before reconnecting it again and allowing it to go through the usual searching for listings procedure? should though this not resolve the problem then it could be caused by water have gained access into the dishes LNB "F" connector and partially shorting out the band switching commands sent by the box to the LNB, this type of thing seriously restricting what you can view, as of course will also be the case if the dish has moved slightly out of alignment through having been blown by the wind, it only taking the merest fraction of movement to do this, the best way of knowing if this is applicable or not being to have a look at the signal check screen, both levels (strength / quality) being a minimum of 60% and with the quality never being under the strength, this indicating that the dish is slightly out of alignment.
However, more detailed advice can be supplied with knowledge of the type of Sky box being referred to, e.g: Standard, Sky+, or Sky+HD.
