What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Vicky: Adjusting a satellite dish requires extreme precision, and unless the dish has been leaned on in any way moving it downwards then its likely just out in the horizontal (left to right) plane.
If the dish can be seen from the TV then the box should be left on its signal check menu (services - 4 - 6) and the dish arm clamp screw loosened just enough to enable it to be moved "very slowly" from slightly left or right of its present position whilst observing the signal bars for the slightest of movement.
If this doesn't work then the elevation has likely been knocked out and that really requires a meter for success.

Hi there
I recently purchased a second hand Amstrad Sky Digibox DRX400 to replace the one that I had for sometime that had completely stopped working. It is the identical model to the defunct one. This box is my multiroom box - I have a Sky+ HD box in the living room. The multiroom box shows fault 29. When looking at the settings, on the Signal Test screen, there is no Signal Strength or Signal Quality indicated and the Lock Indicator shows Not Locked. I have spoken to Sky and they said they would send a download to rectify this. This was a few days ago and there has been no change. I have checked all connections several times and all appears to be OK. The Sky+ HD box is working fine, so I assume there is no problem with the satellite dish.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. Steve

Steve: What you have said suggests that your second hand box is defective as the power units fitted in these older boxes are prone to failure.
Although it may be a bit of an inconvenience, but try your HD box in the multiroom boxes position using only the HD boxes LNB1 input, as that will soon reveal if either (1) that the outlet port used on the LNB for the multiroom contract box is OK or not, or (2) that should it be OK then your latest acquisition is defective.
You could of course just try the DRX400 in the Sky HD boxes position but using only one of the dish feeds, this can be anyone of the two feeds as they are technically identical.
By the way Sky were not exactly correct in what they have said, as OA downloads does not help your type of problem.

Hi jb38
Many thanks for your advice, it was spot on. The second hand digibox I got from eBay was in fact defective (will leave appropriate feedback). I have now put my original Sky+ box (which was spare after I got my Sky+ HD box) in it's place - didn't realise I could do this as I thought it would only operate with the 2 feeds from the dish.
Thanks again.
Steve.

Steve: Many thanks for the update! and pleased to hear you have sussed out the problem insomuch that your recent purchase was defective, that always being the danger when purchasing second hand Sky boxes as lots of them suffer from defective power unit problems.
Regards / jb.

Can anyone help please. When I put my sky plus box on there was a feozen picture. I switched it off from wall left it a few mins and now nothng st all. No lights. Nothing just dead. Tried unplugging, checked fuse, checked socket, took all plugs off and back and still nothing. I am worried abiut rebooting as will lose recordings, but as it is not working anyway, cannot even do this. I assume I need Sky to come out at a cost. Thanks

Roidy: Rebooting does not under normal circumstances delete anything recorded on the hard drive, and as far as your problem is concerned, your symptoms suggest that the boxes internal power unit has failed, not exactly an uncommon occurrence.
That said, you should double check that the boxes mains supply lead is OK by trying another of the same, as these two pin types are used in lots of devices such as laptop power units etc.

jb38: Thank you for your reply. We have tried another lead and nothng has happened. Tried it on an old box too but new one Just the same so it is likely the internal power unit has gone, so will have to get someone out. I assume it is repairable. Thanks again for your help which is very much appreciated.
