Brief magazine segments typically fill in the remaining schedule, focusing on market data, financial news, sports news, art and culture, science, weather, European politics, and press reviews of the major European newspapers.6 These item slots will occasionally be preempted by breaking news or live television coverage. We can no longer get Euronews. When we go onto the list of available channel numbers nothing appears. The freesat no. 204 does no longer exist. Would appreciate some help.

Mrs spencer: Euronews is no longer broadcast on Freesat, rumoured to be for financial reasons, however, it can still be viewed on Freesat receivers if manually tuned in using the undermentioned parameters with the receiver set to operate in its non-Freesat reception mode.

Really disappointed that you have dropped Euro news from freesat. It is an excellent source of news from our nearest neighbours and much more relevant than all the others that focus on UK parochial news or the USA. Please reinstate it.

Jane: The decision to remove Euronews from Freesat was made by the broadcaster. I suggest you make your feelings known to them (there is a link to the website at the top of this page). You can still tune Euronews in manually on most Freesat receivers, see jb38's post above for tuning details.

But why do Euronews seem to be hiding their continuing Astra2 broadcast frequency? It is not published on their own web page at EuroNews or listed at www.lyngsat.com
Surely this frequency isn't only there for users of the Sky EPG?

Capvermell: Neither of the links in your post point the EuroNews's website which is Page 1 Copy 34 . Broadcasters don't generally publish frequency information as the vast majority of viewers will be accessing their channels via the EPG and wouldn't know what to do with manual tuning information. Euronews can currently be found on 11464H.

As the BBC has weakened the possibility of Europeans to get Freestat because of satellite changes, how can I get Food Network programs, Euronews, France 24, Telemonde 5 etc. in northern Italy?
Thank you for your suggestions and help.

Jane Calahan: The BBC only have control over the satellite coverage of their own channels, they have nothing to do with coverage restrictions for any other broadcaster (none of the channels you listed have anything to do with the BBC). UK broadcasters have had to restrict their coverage in order to make their channels available free to air so that they can be viewed without a Sky box and viewing card. The only channels who have been required to do this are the PSB channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV/STV, Channel 4, S4C & Channel 5). It has been the choice of the broadcasters to restrict coverage of other channels in order to make them available free to air to UK viewers.
Your best option would be to consult a satellite installer who has experience of installing satellite systems for reception of UK channels in your area, as they will know what is possible and what size dish would be required etc. Some channels, such as Euronews and France 24 are also broadcast on other satellites which are more easily receivable across Europe. Alternatively, there are various internet services which can aid the reception of UK TV channels overseas via VPN etc, however that would be into the realms of questionable legality.
