david king: I'm not sure what you mean.

UKTV (see UKTV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) is a joint venture with Scripps Networks Interactive, who also run the Food Network.

I like this channel, so I'm glad to see that it's now available all day on Freeview. How did they manage that? Have they got rid of one of the other channels?

Now, if they could just find the space to make Al Jezeera 24/7, I think I'd have every channel I could ever want.

Karen Bray: Have you lost any other channels? Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitter you're using, where you are in relation to it and your predicted coverage etc.

Our nearest transmitter is Huntshaw Cross, from which we receive some FV channels (eg 21,31,40,44). However we cannot get FV Ch 41, although the info I have read says it is on COM5, which allegedly is transmitted by Huntshaw.
Our terrestrial aerial is a wideband type A, which my local supplier says should be OK.
Can you advise what I need to do - other than get Freesat?
Thanks

Nicholas Hews: COM5 is broadcast on UHF channel 34 from Huntshaw Cross, which is within the frequency range a Group A aerial is designed to receive. Do you get Dave on Freeview channel 19, which is also on COM5? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted coverage etc.

Nicholas Hews:

To add to what StevensOnln1 has said, Huntshaw Cross may be your nearest transmitter but that doesn't mean that reception is the "best" as it depends on topography. Whilst the UHF channels are chosen to try and minimise interfernece from other transmitters that use similar channels, in some cases the terrain is such that reception for you may be "difficult" from your nearest transmitter whereas a signal from another transmitter may reach you quite easily.
Hence the need to look at the predicted coverage for your location which can only be done with a full postcode.

PS. If your aerial is Group A, it can't be Wideband, but a Wideband covers Group A, Huntshaw Cross channels are all within Group A.
