Apparently you can only get this channel if you have a HD TV AND are receiving a signal from one of the limited transmitters with the HD extra channels e.g. BBC4. Not all Full Freeview transmitters are doing all the HD channels. So much for more channels for everyone!

Tracy: But there are more channels for most people, and most areas will have coverage . It currently not possible for all transmitters, but hopefully the change to DVB-T2 will allow that.

Have a HD set and installed channels ok so guess my problem is the transmitter won't let me receive channel 81. I have re-tuned but still not happening. A shame as looks like a good channel. Any chance this situation will change

Sue: having an HD TV doesn't mean you have an 'HD' TV. That might just refer to the panel being HD Rady or Full HD. You also need an HD tuner built in (also known as a DVB-T2). And then of course it depends where you live and what transmitter you can pick up. Its a commercial channel, so 'light' transmitters and some others will not hhave it - its not worth their while to transmit it.
Put your postcode into the site - it will show you possible transmitters. Pick the one your using, and you should be able to see if the transmitter carries it. If it does, and you have an HD tuner in your TV, it should then pick it up.

Hi Mike. Thank you for taking the time to reply. A shame I can not get what seems like an interesting channel. Thanks again for the reply.

In London NW3 reception is sporadic. I don't know the location of our nearest transmitter but we don't have this problem with any other channel. Any thoughts please?

Brian: Hi, Brian. In order that we should be able to help you, we need a more detailed postcode than NW3, although I suspect that if you are in the Hampstead heath area, that you are using the Crystal Palace transmitter, which is South/South-East of Hampstead Heath and your tv aerial should be pointing in that direction. There are no faults or engineering work on Crystal palace at the moment, which would suggest that there is a problem somewhere within your installation. Do you have your own personally owned external aerial or is it a communal aerial system shared with other residents? Please come back with a more detailed postcode and the answers to the questions I've posed, and then we can try to help you further. Richard, Wednesday 15th. June, 8:20 p.m.

Richard: Thank you for your advice. We are indeed in the Hampstead Heath area very near the top of the hill so there shouldn't be a problem (although mobile and broadband reception can be strangely dodgy). We have a communal aerial on the roof of our block and it sounds to me as if it ain't facing Crystal Palace. Which could mean the installer was a Spurs fan or simply didn't know what he was doing. Either way a word with the Estate Management team is obviously called for. Thank you again.

Brian: Hi again, Brian. The chap that does ours, Mark Davis, runs his own aerial installation company called Tele-tronics and in our case, not only did he re-align our aerial, but arranged for a tree surgeon to remove branches from a tree that was blocking line of sight from our transmitter to our estate, but once this had been done, Mark came back and re-checked our aerial once again. How about that for service? Richard, Norwich.
