Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Bilsdale (North Yorkshire, England) mast?

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

According to BBC Engineering you should be able to receive at least the Block 10C: 213.360 MHz and Block 11B: 218.640 MHz multiplexes from the Ashbourne House transmitter just to the east of Northallerton.
Also the BBC National Mux Block 12B: 225.648 MHz from the Bilsdale Quarry mast to your East.
You should also supposedly get the 11B mux from Eston Nab to your NE.
Also the 12B mux from Pontop Pike to your N of NNW, and from Emley Moor to your South.
Another source suggests the D1 mux on Block 11D: 222.064MHz is being transmitted from the Bilsdale Quarry mast and also the SDL mux Block 11A: 216.928 MHz.
Both have also been added to Eston Nab until better coverage is operational at Bilsdale.

My DAB service in Brawby has been rubbish for the past few weeks and my FM service is non existent except for Greatest Hits Radio at 104.7MHz. Bilsdale transmitter to be fixed in 2023, presumably?

You may find some of the information in this post useful Bilsdale (North Yorkshire, England) DAB transmitter | free and easy
You should also get reception of Block 10C from Sutton Bank and Olivers Mount and 12B &11D from the latter, and Bilsdale Quarry which also has 11A.
Arqiva's plan was to get a further temporary mast very close to the original mast up and running in January which should help improve your reception. I've not seen any updates on that of late, and of course it will be weather dependent. If you are still struggling, you could try ringing the dedicated Bilsdale Helpline 0800 121 4828.
Let us know how you get on.

I heard that a temporary new mast was being commissioned in February 2022. Can I ask the
February date.

Brenda Hattersley: The latest information has been provided by Arqiva at the link below. No switch on date has been provided, probably to allow for suitable weather conditions to enable testing to be completed before the new temporary mast can be switched on. The replacement permanent mast is due to be built this summer and come in to operation during Spring next year.

Is Bilsdale transmitting FM radio signals at the moment?

Hello, don't believe that the new interim mast is transmitting FM at present, they seem to be concentrating on TV at the moment.. However there are reports that there are FM antenna on the mast but they are speculated to be for BBC National FM services and that local/regional FM radio services will remain at Eston Nab for the time being. It's also thought that DAB is still coming from the Bilsdale Quarry mast. But if you want the definitive story, you may be best phoning the special Bilsdale helpline 0800 121 4828.
