john: Yes, you can watch the free-to-air HD channels, BBC One HD, BBC HD and ITV1 HD. I think most people have reported leaving the card in the machine provides Channel 4 HD too.

Josette Miller: Yes. No card is required if you get a Freesat (rather than a Freesat from Sky) box.

Steve: The best thing to do is to connect the aerial to the TV, there is no point connecting it to the Sky box as you are using SCART/HDMI for Sky.

kay callaghan: A retune will be required on the designated dates. Most equipment will simply prompt the viewer on the date.

Steve Maxted: The current Freeview signal from Dover is your best choice.

As long as you have a rooftop aerial, you should have excellent reception on all multiplex except multiplex B, and this will be fixed in 2012 at switchover.

Paul Lawrence: I would say either wait for switchover, on 6/20 April, or perhaps consult an electrician.

Anthony: It is free in the sense of not requiring a subscription. You don't need an internet connection to watch Freeview.

I have just ended my contract with Sky+. I have a Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD81 TV with built in Freesat/Freeview tuners. What do I need to obtain to have same or better facilities than Sky+.

Mel: A Freesat+ or Freesat+HD box. You just remove the Sky+ box and replace it directly.
