To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

hi. we are in edinburgh city centre (eh8) and had our initial ''switch over'' today (part two on 15th june). We have a digital tv and an analogue tv. We bought a freeview box some time ago but it didnt ''work''. We were told that our ariel needed to be upgraded. Our landlord upgraded it (so they say) last year. Our switchover was today. We plugged in the box to the digital tv and another box to the analog tv and retuned. Now we can get all the bbc channels and radio but no itv or c4 - tho we can get that if we switch back to analog mode. We dont get C5 and never have. We also dont have any of the other freeview channels yr meant to get with a freeview box. Is this still a problem with the arial? Why are we not getting the ''extra'' channels and STILL not getting C5??

jackieme: Switchover step 1 which took place this morning only delivers the BBC channels at high power from Craigkelly, and for the first time from its dependent relay sites, replacing analogue BBC2. Switchover step 2 0n 15th June 2011 will see high power working introduced on the remaining muxes at Craigkelly. Mux D3+4 and Mux HD will replace the remaining analogue services at relay sites.

jackieme: Further to my post above if your aerial is pointing to the Cannongate relay transmitter you will only receive the 3 PSB muxes after switchover. This will include Channel Five together with ITV2, E4, more4, ITV1+1 and Channel 4+1 only. To receive the additional channels on the COM muxes it will be necessary to receive signals direct from Craigkelly,if this is possible at your location.

kevin: There are FOUR transmitter you can receive a full-power Freeview signal from: The Wrekin, Lark Stoke, Bromsgrove, and Winter Hill. Are you using a rooftop aerial?

Peter: Very hard to be sure without your full postcode, you might be outside the reception area until switchover.

I have a problem that my freeview pvr now clashes with the freeview on my lcd television so much so I cannot record any programmes in advance even though my external arial goes into the pvr & then into the television.
