If you have several TVs at home do you need separate decoders for each set or is there a way of connecting them?

published on UK Free TV

If you want to watch different programmes on different TVs, you need a decoder for each.

With satellite, you will also need a "Quad LNB" on the dish, as each satellite decoder requires a separate "LNB" connection for each.

For digital cable and Freeview, the incoming cable can be split and shared.

There are a few options (such as the Pace Twin PVR) that can be used as a decoder for a second room, using only a standard connection for the second TV.

If you simply want to be able to watch the same programme in a second room, this can be done using a standard TV "UHF" cable.

ARNOLD JACKSON: Yes, you can watch the fSfS (not Freeview) channels, but you can't record/play/pause without a subscription.

Vikki: If you have lost BOTH your Sky and analogue TV, then the problem will be the connection between the "remote" TV and your Sky+ box - check the RF cable is connected to RF2 and is OK all the way along.

If you have Sky but no analogue then either you have not plugged your aerial into the "RF in" on the Sky box OR your region has switched off analogue.

mags: If you are tuned to the Craigkelly transmitter switchover stage 1 took place on 1st June 2011. Did you do a factory reset to clear the channel list and a scan for channels? Stage 2 takes place on 15th June 2011 when you will have to do another first time installation as the remaining muxes will change frequency and mode, and adopt high power working.Although an outdoor aerial is recommended for reliable reception if you have been receiving Freeview on your indoor aerial up to last week it might continue to give satisfactory results on the new frequencies.

siobhan mcdade: You need to check that the cable that links "to upstairs" is connected to the rooftop aerial point that works downstairs.

hi

I HAVE A SKY HD BOX DOWNSTAIRS WHICH IS OUR MAIN TV AND THEN I HAVE MY OWN TV HD AS WELL THAT WAS CONNECTED TO AN AERIAL INSIDE MY BEDROOM AND OBVIOUSLY NOW HAVE NO CHANNELS. IS THERE A WAY TO CONNECT THE SKY TO THE TV UPSTAIRS WITHOUT BUYING ANOTHER SKY BOX. AND IF I DECIDED TO BUY A FREEVIEW BOX AND HAVE NO ANTENA IN MY ROOM WILL JUST PLUGGING THE BOX STRAIGHT INTO TV WORK?
