Channel 4 HD is on Freesat EPG - at last!
Almost three years after the launch of Freesat, Channel 4's high definition channel has finally appeared in the electronic programme guide of the free-to-air satellite service.
The service can now be found at position 126.
This now means you can watch the same four HD services on Freeview HD and Freesat HD: BBC One HD, ITV1 HD, Channel 4 HD and BBC HD.

Hi again,
could anyone tell me whether it's possible to connect up my cherished old analogue Sony trinitron with only UHF socket to receive Freesat, and if so how? Thanks in advance, great site.

Ronald: I am assuming from your question that your old TV doesn't have a SCART socket.
If not, there are two options.
The first is to use a different sort of 'direct input' - there is probably a 'video in' socket on the back of the TV, probably an 'phono socket', along with two for 'left and right audio in'. If there is, then you just need a SCART to phono lead.
If there isn't, the you can buy an 'RF modulator' for about £20 that allows your TV to 'tune in' to a Freesat box.

Thanks Briantist -
there's only a UHF socket (it's an 'antique' portable Trinitron in a wooden cabinet - superb picture). I had read elsewhere that I could run it 'through' a VCR (I have an old one that would suffice) which would have it's own modulator, or that some freesat receivers have their own modulators - could anyone recommend one?

Ronald: I don't think there are any Freesat receivers with UHF modulators. Try rf modulator scart switch connectors phono plug lead adapter for a SCART-to-RF modulator.

Ronald, yes you could run it through a vcr as long as that had some form of external input. To the best of my knowledge all Freesat branded boxes do not have the required modulator.

Hi,just a couple of things if anyone can help.I'm having free sat installed through the government help scheme, and have been told by the company that they only use two recievers. A Sagem and a Metronic.I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly which ones they use,so that I can check them out.And secondly, which would be the best/cheapest way to to get the signal in my two separate bedrooms.Thanks,Mike.

Mike - I doubt that either of these receivers will have a recording capability. It's a matter of personal choice here on the two receivers offered. Personally I would accept the installation and the latter of the two receivers. This would get your initial installation in to your home and then you could think about perhaps an SD receiver for the bedroom and perhaps upgrading the lounge receiver later to something more of your choosing and moving the metronic to the other bedroom. Some wiring upgrading and perhaps a switch of the LNB on the dish but that wouldn't be overlay expensive to do.

Mike - You could ask the installation fitter to put in a 4 port Quad LNB at the outset. This would avoid any further outlay at a later stage where you simply have to have cable runs made to the bedrooms.
