published on UK Free TV

A small number of Freeview boxes no longer have a full EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) due to the InView guide stopping transmission.

The following boxes now can only access the now-and-next information on Freeview:

  • Digifusion FRT101
  • Digifusion FVRT100
  • Digifusion FVRT145
  • Digifusion FVRT150
  • Digifusion FVRT200
  • Digifusion FVRT400
  • Inverto IDL-7000T
  • Inverto IDL-7000M
  • Thomson DHD4000
  • Sony SVR-S500

If you have one of these boxes, you probably will need to replace it with a modern Freeview+ box.

The other Freeview electronic programme guides, including Freeview+, 4TVinteractive and GuidePlus+ are not effected.

i really need help, i had a cheap £20 freeview box which worked fine. I upgraded to a bush freeview plus box and now I receive all channels but have no epg on most channels (now & next or 7 day guide). I do not understand how this can be a signal problem when my old box worked fine but I have exchanged the box and still no luck. Can anyone help or advise where i can get help - phoning the helpline is useless. thanks (postcode G67 1HF).

caroline purdie: Not all boxes have the seven day guide, but most new ones do. I would try My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice and if that doesn't fix it ask the shop to supply a box of a different make or model that does have the extended guide.

landan brown: If you have tried the "disconnecting the box from the mains" procedure on more than one occasion and yet the problem remains the same, then this is inclined to point to the hard drive having failed, something which effectively ends the life of the box.

By the way, if the symptom as described had only happened now and again and it was still possible to access the menu, then you could have tried reformatting the disk as that "might" have cleared up any glitches in the system, however when its not possible to access the menu then there nothing you can really do about the situation, especially in a box as old as an FVRT150.
