Boxes that do not support both 2k and 8k modes
Some boxes are having problems during switchover supporting both modes at the same times:- Sharp TU-R160H
- Humax 9200T
- Thomson DTi 1000
The workaround appears to be to add the "8k" channel manually (C62 for Selkirk, for example) and then to do this procedure after switchover is complete: My Freeview box has no EPG, is missing Film4, Channel 4+1, no sound on ITV3 or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002
This is on top of the boxes that could not cope with the changes to the Network Information Table (NIT): Daewoo DS608P, Labgear DTT100, Triax DVB 2000T, Portland DP100 and these VCR/STBs: Daewoo SV900, Bush IDVCR01

I am receiving BBC channels perfectly since switchover today (kidderminster) - but now no longer seem to have channel 4, and am not receiving any other related '4' channels, or any ITV channels at all. Do I need to do something else to 'find' them?
Many thanks

Wayne: If your box is a TF5800, it's known to have a problem with the larger Network Information Table introduced in 2008.

You should have had an over-the-air update to fix the problem, but some boxes need to be left in standby with the auto-update feature enabled to get the update.

Leicester
Hi,
I live in Leicester (LE3) and I'm getting lots of glitching/freezing. I have a Sony PlayTV PS3 box. It worked absolutely fine before the switch over and now it's just not watchable the TV.
I've retuned it, retuned it without the Ariel cable plugged in and retuned it again. I also reset the PS3 software. I don't think the PS3 is at fault since I play games fine on it.
Any ideas, do I need to buy a new freeview box. I bought a new Ariel cable the other day but still the same problem! Is it possible it's not supported (Sony PlayTV). If it's not I'm thinking of getting a Freeview HDBox.
I live in a studio flat shared with 8people. But that shouldn't be a problem because it worked fine before the switch over (I don't understand why it is now)!
Cheers.

Mark: The usual explanation for such a situation is that you have overloaded the device with too much signal. This is usually caused by having an amplifier or booster in the system that is now distorting the much stronger broadcast signals.
The best thing to do if you do have an amplifier or booster is to remove it from your system.
If this is the source of the problem then a Freeview HD box will have exactly the same problem.

One studio flat for 8 people sounds very overcrowded, but not obvious why that would affect the TV.
Which transmitter is your aerial pointed at?
If it is shared, what reception are others getting?
You may have an amplified central distribution which just needs turning down a bit.

Thanks to all for their comments. The problem is now 90% resolved. When Sutton Coldfield transmitter went 100% digital this week, I lost all the BBC channels as well as the previously lost ITV channels. By investing some small change and buying the basic set-top box from Currys hey presto I now have all the available channels. So please note the Daewoo DRT10 DVD Recorder + Set top box does not work with the new 8k digital signal.
Re; Marks "glitching/freezing" I still get some of this. I have an aerial boster which I'm planning to put in line (waiting male/male coax fitting) but perhaps this may make matters worse. Previous investigations have shown the aerial to be correctly tuned and sited. Is "glitching/freezing" primarily due to a) aerial b) poor signal c) poor connectors d) poor receiver e) television tuning. My wife thinks a new television will cure everything - please help.
