London
Hi there,
I live in Central London and until a few days ago I had an old Wharfedale freeview box and indoor aerial and was able to receive all freeview channels with no major problems.
After the Wharfedale went bang (quite literally), I tried other freeview boxes, aerial boosters, amplified indoor aerials and even a freeview+ box (which I was told would receive a stronger signal), but alas no matter what I do I can't get some of the channels back, particular the ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 group of channels.
What did that old Wharfedale box have that these other new appliances don't have? I have tried retuning so many time I could do the process with my eyes closed. Any suggestions welcome.
Oh and the old box was run through my old video machine. I presume that would offer no real benefit to the signal?
Many thanks,
PT

andy: Sorry, but I think communicating with Sky to pair the card and box together is what you will have to do.

Tina: I don't think Sky have ever made a box that had a single SCART socket. This is to where you should attach your DVD device.

PT: If you want reliable reception, you should use a rooftop aerial for Freeview reception. Indoor aerials are hit-and-miss at best.

Lee Washington: We don't really promote "shows" on UK Free TV, the site is about the technical challenge of getting the television to work, I leave the content to those more qualified to provide it such as yourself.

Dont know if I am replying to this correctly. I have checked the box it says Sky + HD, checked the back and it definately only has one scart, I am just not sure what should be put in what, the tely and the dvd/vcr both have 2 scarts each. The sky is not old had it about a year. Many thanks

Tina: That version of the Sky HD box you have seems to be one of the latest Amstrad units (DRX895?) in which Sky in their infinite wisdom have done away with one of the scart sockets, this having caused great inconvenience to many!
You mention that you have a TV and also a combi DVD/VCR recorder, maybe you could give the brand & model number of this unit, also whether or not your TV is fitted with two scart sockets? finally, maybe you could also indicate if its an HD TV? (that is with an HDMI socket)

Well from what I can see my DVD/VCR is a samsung 330 my tv is sony model KDL-32L 4000, as I said both the telly and the combi have 2 scarts. I have never really been able to use the combi bit to technical for me, but my husband died in march and I wanted to put the videos of him on disc and then edit on the computer, but it just wont work, all I can think is it is not wired properley, the telly is working fine. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
