I don't want to use a satellite box I have a freeview box. I want to know if an existing dish for sky can be use with the freeview box.Can I use a cable splitter and run one end to the sky box the the other to a freeview box and get the freeview channels.
You cannot use a Freeview receiver with a satellite dish, only an aerial.
You also cannot split a satellite signal from a dish, if you want to run more than one box you must use a dual- or quad-LNB on the satellite dish and have a cable to each satellite receiver.

Hi
I have an old Sony CR TV with 2 scart sockets (AV1 and AV2). I have a freeview box connected to AV1 and a Panasonic Sky Satellite box connected to AV2. This enables me to switch between either one to enable me to watch one whist recording on the other system.
I now want to get rid of the old Sony CR TV and buy a flat screen TV but they all seem to have just one scart socket.
Is there any way I can have both a Freeview and a Sky box connected to the same flat screen TV and the ability to switch between either one?

Keith: If you get a new flat-screen TV then it will have Freeview built in.
I would think that HDMI is probably replacing SCART. Does your Sky box have a HDMI out?

Keith: Lots of LCD TV's have two scart sockets, it depends on the price range looked at. However you can still achieve what you require by connecting the Sky boxes AV1 into the TV's scart socket, then you connect the Freeview boxes AV1 into the Sky boxes AV2 (which might be called VCR)
In operation you can watch Sky if the Freeview box is in standby, but when its taken out of stand by it should over ride the Sky box and feed Freeview through to the TV, if it doesn't then just put the Sky box in standby.
If though you have any problem with this arrangement, something which can happen in some cases dependant on the Freeview boxes circuitry, you can still do what you want if you purchase a simple two way scart switch box, its common lead going into the TV's scart, and with the Freeview AV1 going to one input on the splitter / combiner and Sky boxes AV1 to the 2nd input, you simply switching between the two as required.
You could test this out on your old CRT set by just using its AV1 socket.

Dave:Thanks for the info.The LCD I am looking at has only one scart and no built-in Freeview. The Panasonic satellite box is a digibox with no HDMI unfortunately.

We want to view sky via the magic eye in another room but also want to watch recorded freeview in the main room

I'm sure I've missed something obvious.
I'm not a great TV watcher but this is now annoying me.
On the roof I have an old UHF aerial & SKY dish. The SKY disk cable goes to a Philex amp. and then on to the kitchen & upstairs bedroom telly. The Sky dish only was used to provide a signal to the TV in the kitchen which has an integrated freeview tuner( I really didn't bother with the upstairs TV).
Two weeks ago the message on kitchen TV screen suddenly said ' no signal or weak signal - check cables and/.or antenna '. I replaced the Philex Amplifier as I thought that was the problem. Alas, still the same message. I cannot get any channels on the upstairs TV either.
I've looked at all the cables & connections in the house.
Where do I go to from here ?

Hi
I have recently moved into a new house that is wired for tv reception and just needs an aerial installed and to be connected in the loft. I now have to decide whether to go for freesate with a sky dish or freeview and to have a tv aerial installed.
What I don't know is whether the installed wiring will work if it is attached to a sky dish and freesat box. Is the wiring the same for both? Can anyone help?
