published on UK Free TV

Very few of the current Freeview boxes have both SCART and UHF outputs, but you will have to check.

This is done mainly to keep the costs down, but it saves any possible interference from the box itself with the incoming Freeview signals.

So with the a few boxes - often PVRs - you can watch (and record) Freeview channels via a UHF channel.

However, the best possible picture quality is obtained using the "RGB" output on the SCART connector, so if you switch the box to a new TV at some point, you should use the SCART then.

Until the last couple of weeks we have had great reception on either the TV or stuff recorded on our freeview digi box. Both units are Panasonic, both are not more than 4yrs old. But now the BBC & most other channels are OK the ITV 1,2,3, 4 etc is useless and despite retuning both units to DVB and changing the aerial it's still useless.

I have just bought a new LG tv with freeview to take to France. I have an old satellite dish, leads and an old Sky Plus box (I am no longer a subscriber to Sky)and want to link them to the freeview on the tv to enable me to receive English channels abroad - is it possible to do this with the old sky + box or do I need a different device?

Margaret Goodlad: Freeview is provided though a rooftop aerial in the UK only.

A "old Sky+ box" will show the fSfS channels if you use it. See Compare Freeview and Freesat TV | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice opt=1">Compare Freeview and Freesat-from-Sky TV | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for details of which channels are on which system.

Sky+ boxes will not record without a subscription, but you can buy Freesat+HD boxes that do record from satellite without a contract - see Compare Freeview and Freesat TV | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Sky RF2 Output Problems: My neighbour has just replaced an old CRT TV in the bedroom with a Panasonic LX26X20B digital TV. The old CRT TV was tuned to the RF2 output analogue channel and all was OK for watching Sky upstairs. The new Panasonic appears to have a digital tuner but no analogue tuner in order to tune in the Sky box RF2 outlet. Can I use this TV to view Sky in this manner? If not could I use a diggie box to feed in the analogue input and end up with a digital signal being presented at the aerial input to the TV. (Only wants to watch Sky sports channels upstairs) Any help greatly appreciated on how to conquer this problem.

Michael R: The simplest way to view the analogue output of the Sky box on a digital only TV is to use a VCR, which is fitted with an analogue tuner, tuned to the Sky box and fed via scart lead to the TV. VCR would have to be the sort that remains switched on even when the tape transport mechanism is not in use.

Micheal all panasonic tv i have seen have an analouge tuner what you need to do is press the tv button at the top of the remote control if the tv then has a snowy picture then all you have to do is tune it in. Worst case is call a local aerial man and he should help you for a call out charge

Michael R: Just to confirm what's been said by Mazbar, insomuch that the TV in question does have an analogue and digital tuner, this being selectable via the TV button on the top of the remote control, that is as well as from the TV button (amongst the others) on the right hand side of the TV.

Should it not have had though, then the method described by KMJ,Derby would have been the other way of achieving a similar result.

DAWN.STARR: Hi Dawn, i to have a LG tv with just one scart input, you can buy a switched scart cable which will take 2 scart inputs and one output for your TV input. You can also buy multiple scart inputs with one output. They are on ebay at around £6.00. If you can't find it you can email me and i will point you in the right direction. Regards Don
