What price for an aerial installation?

What prices have you been quoted and paid for an aerial installation?

What prices have you been quoted and paid for an aerial install
published on UK Free TV

In responses to the guideline I posted about how much having a new aerial fitted should cost, Ian Grice posted: "£40-£50? Every aerial fitter I contacted wants at least £150+VAT considering you can get a class 3 aerial for under £10 and a class 2 for under £15 and cable is 40p a metre why are they charging so much for 30 minutes work?"

OK, for some places putting up a TV aerial is hard work, such as multi-story properties. As many people will simply be exchanging a Group A, B, C/D, E or K aerial for a wideband type, often without changing the supporting pole or cable, a high price cannot be justified.

I am concerned that some companies will exploit vulnerable groups (such as the elderly).

So, I what prices have you been quoted for aerial installations? What price have you paid for installation?

Do you know of any companies to avoid? Do you know of any companies that are good value for money?

Or do you work for a great aerial installation company?

Not a chance in hell I built up my reputation on my own I do not need to join some parasite trade association or trade body that shafts you for hundreds of pounds per year and gives you nothing but rules and regulations that no one can enforce Fat cats living off grafters..

I believe that the public has had enough of so called trade associations or trade body
it means nothing being in one, any one can join them van estate car cash ladders your in most of them.

Now let me try an educate you

TRADING STANDARDS APPROVED CONTRACTOR

Now that logo associated with my company makes me feel proud it is a nightmare to become a member and there are no rouge traders in there they won't allow it.

Sorry if I offend you but I don't believe in pay and display associations that suck every penny out of you they can, loads of kooky companies hide in them and live off the good companies reputations.

At the end of the day I am all about looking after the most important people my customers without them I wouldn't have the company I have.

What really matters is you do a good job at the right price using good quality equipment and look after your customers not only whilst doing the job but most importantly after the work has been completed.

A company is only as good as it's back up service!

My dad rip allways told me (my company motto)

Treat people the same way you expect to be treated your self. Enough said

Bang On to the above comments in the defence of Broadland Aerials.

Any decent Rigger out there in the field will do there best for the customer, with the thousands of pounds of testing equipment, public liability, and most of all, common sense and knowledge they have.

Its hard enough out there trying to convince the Public to have something decent fitted that will last for years, rather than employ a 'bodgeit and scarper' who Riggs for beer money. So to here a decent company been openly misinterpreted to all and sundrie, quite frankly is out of order !!

If someone thinks they know better than a modern day professional rigger or wants to DIY there own installation and go the way of Rod Hull, then feel free !!

..... and remember, anyone misleading or misinforming the public and naming that legitimate company, will be sort out and subject to legal action.

Hi everyone, I am new to this so please be patient with me. I have a Sharp HD tv with freeview and it works fine with my existing aerial as all previous freeview boxes have. However, I have now purchased a Phillips freeview recorder box and it is saying that it cannot find a signal, I find this confusing as the freeview on the tv still works, can anyone please advise me on this. Am I going to have to purchase a new aerial?????

Lesley - take box back for replacement or refund.

Nick - cheated? And how - unless they fitted something VERY fancy. Why did you pay?

Lesley Ashton: Just purely out of curiosity, what method are you using to connect the aerial into the Philips Freeview recorder box? are you looping the aerial through it and then into the TV? and maybe you could mention the model of Philips are you referring to.

Obert Roliver:

AKA Robert Oliver perhaps? The same Robert Oliver as the Chairman of the CAI?
I see we also have Devlin Kawson (Kevin Dawson, CAI Training & Assessment Executive) and Jim Tenks (Tim Jenks, CAI Senior Executive) recently posting on here too.

Interesting that CAI executives are on here - does this improve the credibility of the CAI I wonder?
