Isabella Andreana: See other postings on this site for information regarding Italian from RAI and other broadcasters on Hotbird at orbital position 13°East. Especially note reference to tivu and registration. You will also find much on related Italian websites.

Steve W Some DVD recorders with hard drives let you effectively pause an incoming programme, including the Panasonics (though I've not used their most recent models).
Plug the Sat box (which I assume has a Scart output) into the Scart input of the DVD recorder. Press 'Record' then use the Play and Pause buttons till you get your sync.

Hi, I live in a shared house near Reading and the landlord just installed a dish for a Polish tenant to watch Polish channels on Hot bird at 13'E. The bracket holding the single LNB has 4 inputs for cables, with one being used for the Polish tenant. Can I buy a tivusat box and connect it to one of these unused inputs to watch italian channels? Is it possible for both myself and the Polish tenant to be able to watch Polish and Italian channels simultaneously? Thanks!

Yes. You could run FOUR boxes from that quad LNB on the dish. Or two recording boxes that require twin inputs.

Hi I live in coventry I have a 65cm dish to picked up Italian channels, but I have been messed up lately with some problem; I have a quad LNB connected to two TVs one connection is still working the other connection has stopped to work and has burned me two box receiver, i dont know if the problem is coming from the LNB or is my cable, can a bad cable burn the satellite receiver box? I have also tried to connect it to one old receiver that I had prima pace 100 and it is showing the follow message "warning short LNB", after I tried to connect the other receiver that works fine with the good connection but on the bad connection that burned my two receivers and once I was connecting it to the cable was automatically shouting off....what can it be?...thanks!!

Max: A short circuit on a satellite cable cannot actually burn anything albeit that if left this way for hours on end it could damage the boxes tuners power circuit.
I have never known an actual LNB to short circuit as such, as its usually always a single strand of wire that has accidentally wrapped itself around the inner core of the cable whilst an "F" connector plug was being screwed on, so unscrew the "F" connectors at either end one at a time and carefully check for what was mentioned.
It is of course also possible for water to have entered the connector at the dish end, but even although that might have killed the signal the level of short circuit it creates would be unlikely to damage the box in the same way as would a strand of wire.
Matter of fact, if one of your boxes gives an LNB short circuit warning then unscrew the "F" connector on the dish and see if the warning vanishes or not, if it does NOT then its the cable, or "F" connectors used on.

Susie, to receive all the main free-to-view Italian channels from Hotbird unrestricted, you need a tivu receiver registered to a bona-fide codice fiscal in Italy. Any standard satellite receiver will continue to pick up most free-to-view channels most of the time. See earlier posts here for more details.

Good afternoon
My name is Petra and I would like to receive French TV at home (TF1, France 2, France 3, Arte, M6 and if possible W9).
I cannot install a dish and the communal Sky dish does not combine hotbird.
Please can you help?
Best wishes
Petra
