My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Danny: The problem is that your TV doesn't like looking to the future whereas you do.

I was watching tv last night and message appeared that I needed to retune my tv. I did and now all I have is 10 channels, no bbc ones at all. My aerial is in the loft and is fine. I have done rescan a number of times but still no luck. Another tv in the house has bbc channels but nothing else. My son has lost all of his channels completely. Whats happened and how can I get everything back on all tvs?

TaraC: do the procedure shown in pictures at the top of the page...

On every transmitter page below the coverage map, under the heading "<transmitter name> transmitter Freeview broadcasts", it says "If you have any kind of Freeview fault, follow this Freeview reset procedure first" which links to this page.
Is this not a bad idea as in general, loss of signal is down to any but a fault with the receiver somehow loosing its memory as far as tuned channels goes?
People come on this website saying that they lost signal and then retuned thereby wiping the memory. They are shooting themselves in the foot as they are probably creating a second problem.

A lot of channels have disappeared in the SA2 area of Kilvey Hill i.e ITV-usually receive over 100 channels but even after following above and rescanning only picking up 59. Others having same issues. There IS a fault at Kilvey Hill

Mr Gilligan: Indeed there is as others have reported on the transmitter's own page: Kilvey Hill
Now you've rescanned you will have to do this until all channels are back but they will only become available when the transmitter is back. But, perhaps other than viewing this website, you won't know when the transmitter is back because your TV isn't tuned, which means you may end up carrying out repeated retunes.
As I said in my posting immediately above yours, rescanning in such a situation only ever serves to make the problem worse. It is shooting oneself in the foot.
Had the TV been left, then all you would have had to have done was view the channels to see if they were back.

Regarding my post 12th September, something strange today, the mutiplexes I had lost on Ch22 for weeks have come back and the multiplexes on 28 that were basically working have gone, no signal. Obviously did full re-tune as per top of page, no difference! Post code PO22 0BQ
