sam: If you were using an old standard Sky box and you have replaced it with a Sky+ box then what have you done as far as the new box requiring twin inputs from the dish is concerned? as you are liable to get that warning if you are only using one input.
Have you connected the dish to LNB1 input? because if you have then you should be able to use the Sky+ box as though it was a standard type.
You should check to see if any signal is being indicated by pressing "services" and you will then see the main menu with "options" being highlighted, highlight the "settings" menu using the right arrow button and press select, then using the left / right arrow buttons scroll to "signal" and press select, this will then display the
signal level indicator bars. and one of should be indicating at least 60% (equivalent of) for satisfactory reception.

nicky: Sky boxes work perfectly OK without a card and so even although you might be a sparky unfortunately there just has to be something wrong with the way you have wired the connections.
What I suggest you do is to first of all unscrew the new "F" connectors from the LNB and using an ohm meter verify (at the box end) check that that no shorts exist across the inner and outer of the coax, if OK then plug the connector into the Sky box and switch it on if not already done so.
Then at the LNB end use a voltmeter to verify that you are getting between 12 and 18 volts across the "F" connector, if you aren't then there must be a break in the circuit somewhere, or if you have used a wall plate outlet socket in line it might be of the type with a filter of some sort which is blocking the DC to the block, as a direct connection is essential.
Further advice dependant on findings.

Hiya i know this is for the uk but I'm wonder if you can help me I live in lanzarote and have a sky box with a card and I used to be able to get the bbc channels,itv,ch 4 and all the ch5 channels and now there all gone saying I don't have any signal.is there anything I can do to pick up the channels again. I don't speak spanish so can't watch spanish telly and I'm going MAD!! Please help if you can. Thanks

jade: There are a number of issues that may be causing your loss of reception eg:-the receiver,the antenna,(Dish),LNB,an issue with your card or the Satellite coverage.
Lanzarote, that I remember has numerous pubs that receive SKY sports and if that's still the case you should be able to get some local help with this. You may even have ax pat installers on the Island I think this has to be the way to go as you could go round in circles with this one.

Jb38 this is what you told me to do but I don't know exactly what you mean by this "William: Set it on a 250 volt or slightly more AC range and check if anything reads between the outer of the coax plug and the side of the "F" connectors, the latter connected into the Sky box but the coax connector "not". (free standing) " can you please tell me in laymans terms I understand the settings on the meter obviously but I can't make sense of where to put the leads by this post

William - what I think he is saying is to see if there is any AC potential diffeerence between the outer (earth) conductor of the aerial coax and that of the satellite coax. That implies that one of them at least is unplugged from the set, which will (I think) connect both to earth or to a common neutral.

William: Yes, and as Stephen P has explained all I wanted to know is whether or not you get any voltage being indicated between the outer of the "F" connectors (whilst connected on the box) and the outer of the main aerial coax plug whilst NOT connected to anything.
Its only because you are on a communal dish / aerial system that I am asking this question, because I suspect that your problem might be being caused by some peculiarity about your appartments wiring.
But though my latter suggestion of temorarily trying the remote TV connected directly into the Sky boxes RF1 via a jumper lead and then connecting the main aerial into the Sky box to see what happens, is to me a far a more positive way of eliminating (or maybe not!) part of your wiring as the possible reason for this difficulty.
