Ok thanks, think its more to do with the alignment of the dish then as LNB and cables are fine, any tips on the best way to find the signal/ dish position it's on a static caravan? Thanks

Jamie: If you do not have any reference points (other dishes) to look at near to where the dish is being installed then you might find the undermentioned link useful, at least as far as knowing what direction to point the dish in is concerned plus info on elevation etc I have to be honest and say though, that as you are carrying out a first time installation I cant really see you having much success without the aid of some form of meter, even if its one of these low cost sat finder types (about £10.00) with either a pointer or LED strip indicator plus audio tone, as without either you are effectively working in the dark. Anyway open the link, and on the top line enter the post code where the caravan is sited (or near to), then on the drop down sat selector scroll "up" the list until you see 28.2 Astra 1N and select this. You can move the green marker to exactly where you are located and the line from this indicates the direction to point the dish in, but note that the exact spot is the little black X trailing under the green marker which only appears once you click on the marker. Kate: If the aerial at your new property is pointing to the same transmitter as the aerial at your old property then retuning won't be necessary. If they are different then retuning will be necessary.

Knowledge of your location, preferably in the form of a postcode (or nearby postcode such as that of a shop) should allow assessment of what transmitter(s) you may be using.

The question is, where do the feeds to the bedroom and kitchen sockets come from?

Perhaps they feed directly from loft, and need connecting up there. Or perhaps they feed from a socket in the lounge so as to allow you to feed the output of your Sky box to other sets.

Can you see where the cable from the aerial runs? Does it go straight to the lounge? If so, perhaps you need to take your kitchen/bedroom TVs to that point and tune them in. If they don't work when you get them back to their perminant location then something needs doing to connect the wall sockets (you shouldn't retune once you have them correctly tuned).

We have just moved into a house with a satelitte dish which has three cable leads coming off it. These are routed into the house.
The plugs have been cut off the cable but they appear to be coaxial tye cable.
I have no idea what type of system this may be. If it is any help the dish is not very large.
I know that this is probably asking for the name of a book and giving only the colour but have you any idea what type of system it may be.
A long shot I know but any info would help

Peter Brooks: Are you looking for F-connectors? There are loads on eBay.

Dave Lindsay: Dave, no thanks, its not the connectors, its what they dish should be connected to.
As far as I can tell most systems only have one lead but this has three. Why?

Peter Brooks: With satellite, you need a a feed for each receiver.

Recording devices (e.g. Sky+ or Freesat PVR) require two feeds so as to allow one channel to be watched and another recorded simultaneously. Some TVs have Freesat tuners built in, therefore someone with a satellite PVR and satellite TV would require three feeds to the one room.

Peter Brooks: Leads from a satellite dish are technically identical to each other and so any one, or pair of, can be used.

By the way connectors used for satellite purposes are called "F" connectors, although if intending to purchase any its always best to snip about an inch (25mm) from the end of the coax and take that to the shop that sells the connectors to make sure that you obtain the correct size for the cable as they can vary.
