I get signals from two Freeview transmitters, but I don't have the BBC and I
If and when you can receive more than one version of a channel on Freeview, the set-top box will place one version on the usual channels numbers and the 'duplicate' versions on channels in the 800-899 range.
The version that is placed on the lower channel numbers is usually the first one to be found as the box scans the transmission channels from C21 to C68.
Many set-top boxes allow you to switch these channel allocations around.
So you will probably find that you have:
1-BBC ONE Wales
2-BBC 2W
3-ITV Wales
4-S4C
8-C4
800-BBC ONE West
801-BBC TWO England
802-ITV West

I have a freeview box with a hard drive to record channels. It doesn't have the option for a manual tune and I pick up a Welsh transmitter as well as Winter Hill. The problem is some of the programmes record of the Welsh transmitter in the 800s and the reception is poor which makes the recording useless. The only way I have found to do it is to plug and unplug the aerial at the right time. Is there anything else I could do, if not what frequencies does Winter Hill use

Peter: Winter Hill uses the following channels/ (BBC) Ch50_706Mhz / (ITV) Ch59_778Mhz / (HD) Ch54_738Mhz / (SDN ITV3) Ch58_770Mhz / (COM5)Ch49_698Mhz / (COM6) Ch55_746Mhz. Another very low powered channel called MEN "might" be receivable, it being on Ch57_762Mhz What model of recorder are you referring to?

Peter: Yes, the 2500 is not the best of devices to use in locations where the two stations that can be received are Winter Hill and Moel-Y-Parc due to the commercial channels used by both being intertwined with each other.
Even the aerial out / in procedure is liable to be hit and miss because of the close proximity of the channels, but though the best in / out / in procedure I can see is as follows.
Aerial "out" until 48 is passed then immediately "in" to catch WH's 49/50, then immediately out to miss MP's 51/52, then in and leave in to catch WH's 54/55/58/59.
It would also have been of assistance if you could give you approximate location (post code of somewhere nearby e.g: a shop/post office, this for the purpose checking the angles that the two transmitters are being received at, and is your aerial rooftop mounted?

After missing the last 2 episodes of The Walking Dead I decided I had to get this sorted, It took me nearly an hour sitting in front of the telly sticking stickers on the screen and oving them about but I think i've done it.
Strangely I discovered that the channels I receive are
39,45,49,50,55,58,59 but no 54 so it was aerial out till 39,45 had passed then in till the end. I now have no Welsh channels but seem tohave all the others.
Thanks for your help jb 38

I have an Edison HDMI Modulator for my CCTV system and have tried setting it to various channels, no matter what channel I select, when in use I cannot tune in any bbc / itv etc channels on my TV's.
Any help on channel selection to eliminate signal loss would be appreciated.
