Joe: Sky+ boxes cannot be used for recording or indeed playback of anything previously recorded without a subscription being in force, as without same the box will just perform as a standard version.

As far as the second question is concerned, although the dish as such could possibly be used, but though this is provided that its fitted with a new LNB as the one already on it is most likely to be the older low band types that were used pre Sky digital.

Joe: In addition to that said and with regards to the old Sky dish, when you mention "making use of it", are you meaning within your own household? because if you are then why dont you just run another one or two feeds from the quad LNB that you intend to fit onto the Zone 2 dish referred to?

For neatness you could use twin coax known as shotgun cable, called this because of its appearance when viewed from end on.
