You will need a FSFS (Freesat from Sky Card)- £25.00 and on receipt of this card then have it paired to your receiver. Once done you then need to contact BT and provide them with the number on the reverse of the card for it to activate their service. Bear in mind that to get it free you have to be a BT Customer with a Broadband package and commit to a 12month extension of your BT contract.

Thanks Ian - I guessing my test meter can only see DVBT and not DVBT-2 can still read the Rf/db level.
Many thanks.

Hi,

Is it possible to obtain the coverage areas as a kmz or a shapefile?

Many thanks

Kai: I'm sorry, but the coverage maps are generated using pixel-based prediction.

They are not really suitable for kmz or a shapefile representation.

cheers for the response Les. I already get all the free-to-air channels with my existing card. So if I contact Sky about changing the contact details of this card are you saying they are going to try and get me to pay £25 for a different card to use that will give me everything I already get (without having had to pay a penny for it in the first place)? And if I say no to that, can they block the free channels I do already have? tbh, this was the reason I tried writing on here before calling sky. can anyone else confirm this for me? want to be double sure as i'd like to get free BT Sport but won't bother if I've got to pay £25 to Sky for the pleasure. Both on principal and the simple fact that with a 4 month old spending all my money :-) I can't afford it!

Kai: It's not that it's impossible - you can convert them by hand using

Stickwo: The conditions relating to being able to access BT sport is that a person must have an "active" viewing card, and as cards arent generally transferable Sky might consider that you do not meet the criteria.

However you have nothing to lose by phoning them up and making an enquiry, as Sky "cannot under any circumstances" stop you viewing free channels simply because they have no way of doing it, its only channels associated with a package they can block by removing the access code from your card.

The other point being, that If you remove the viewing card from your box you will still be able to view the free channels, if though at any time you disconnect the box from the mains and then reconnect it again later on the only changes you would see is that your regional news programmes will have defaulted to London, as thats basically all that your viewing card is required for with the exception of an odd channel here and there that cannot (although free) be viewed without the card, Sony TV 157 being about the only one I can think of at this present time.

Hi
They say that there are no problems on the Winter Hill Tx. Would you have a look at the enclosed link below, lots of people including me are having problems with the freeview on our Sony/Pioneer PVR's. You will see from the posts that it corrected itself and is now back. Nobody is owning up to what is going on. Many people have also gone out and bought new recorders, only to find out that this is either a freeview problem or a firmware one.
Sony is looking into the problem, but it would be nice to find out if this has had anything to do with the 4G switch on.

The BBC has already mentioned this problem on the BBC News.

Hoping you can shed some light on this issue.
