Sadly, I am unable to offer this personal service at the moment.
Until I can restore this service, please can you leave any questions you have on an appropriate page, where they will be answered as soon as possible, or below, if you can't figure out where to ask.
I look forward to your questions!

liz: When you say "disconnected from Sky" if you are meaning that you have cancelled the contract then your Sky+ HD box will simply revert to operating like a standard box, meaning that any programmes dedicated to a Sky package cannot be viewed nor will the recording / playback side of the box as this will have been disabled by Sky.
Apart from that you can use the box just like any other standard Sky box without a contract, if you still have the boxes telephone line connected then remove it as its not necessary.

liz:
Further to what JB38 says, a Sky box cannot be connected to an aerial for terrestrial (ground based) TV reception, it can only be connected to a dish system for any TV reception that will always be satellite based. So it cannot be used for Freeview reception but it may be usable for FreeSat reception, which is not quite the same.
However, you can use it to view the 'free to air' programmes available via the Astra satellites that Sky use, such as BBC1, BBC2, ITV, etc. Look at freesat - Subscription free HD Satellite TV through a Digital Box to see what you could get.

Roz: West Midlands at your location refers to the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. Mux BBCA is on C43, so inability to tune to that frequency suggests interference on C43, or maybe trees are obstructing the signal path, causing the signal level to dip. Check too that the BBC channels (or BBC1) have not been placed in the 800s, with an anusable version from an out of area transmitter stored in the normal positions of the channel list. Try to do a manual tune on C43 if your equipment has this facility.

Adrian: I am unaware as to where you were attempting to enter your post code into? however the post code you entered on "site settings" at the top right hand of this page worked perfectly OK, and with Crystal Palace @ 54 Km / 254 degrees being indicated as your best bet for reception at your location.
That said though, if you reside in a new'ish area then whatever you are attempting to enter your post code into might not have been updated, as the RT investigation site (to name but one) is particularly critical in this respect.

jb38: I am entering my postcode (SS0 7SN) into site settings, also tried neighbouring postcodes ( ss0 8ef & ss1 2zg) and getting the same error message, but works fine when I tried my old postcode

Adrian: Yes, you are quite correct as I have just tried it again and now see what you are meaning, which is a bit baffling as it worked OK before otherwise I would not have been able to view the reception predictor.
However, I am sure that Briantist (who owns and operates the site) will have picked up on this and as such will soon have the problem rectified.

jb38/Adrian: Hi.
I've been doing some "tweaks" to make the site run faster, and it introduced a small bug into the prediction system.
As a result, for postcodes (or NGRs) that resulted in a coastal prediction, the bit I wrote to cache the results in a new table wasn't working as expected.
I have now located and fixed the problem.
I'm sorry I didn't spot it sooner.
