Freeview Channel offsets updates

Ofcom has updated the data at Ofcom - UK Digital Terrestrial Television Transmitter Frequency and Site Data today.

The old version of the data was missing some channel offset data.

On C21 and C60, Ofcom notes that less stringent out-of-band emissions limits apply to low power (less than 100 watts ERP) transmitters than for higher power transmitters on those channels. The broadcasters use band-edge offsets primarily as a means of meeting emissions limits and they are not actually employed to protect DTT reception from neighbouring services. As a rule of thumb, low power transmitters which switched to digital early in the switchover process tended to have offsets implemented on band-edge channels, while those switching later did not.

Hi. I live 8 miles south of Derby. My freeview has been going off mostly at night early morning and tonight during Luther on bbc1 at 22.50 ish it went off and is still off as are most other channels - bbc1 2 3 4, all itv, channel 4 etc. Does anyone know why ? There is nothing in area that could effect it like this (that I know of ) . It's most annoying , especially suffering from insomnia I rely on tv to keep me going . Sad I know but it's a fact. Why has my sony rdr hxd970 started powering up and trying to do updates throughout the day rather than just checking at various times during the day (10.00 and 14.00). I live on the Isle of Wight and this started 2 days ago. It does not power off (as it usually does) and I have to manually turn it off.

Nic Sears: This has been a nationwide issue which started on Friday night and now appears to have been resolved.

Press and hold Power/Standby on the front of the machine for about 5 seconds and it should bring it out of the locked-up Update mode.

Dave Lindsay: Both my sony recorders are working normally now and EPG fully functional, and I didn't have to retune. I used my remote Power/Standby to change from Update. I have had to re-enter all the programmes I want to record though.
Thanks to all who gave their advice although sadly none of it worked for me!!

How on earth do I re-tune FILM 4 on my 4 year old SAMSUNG TV (as instructed) when MENU does not have a SETTINGS heading or any options to TUNE or RETUNE? 15 used to give me FILM 4 but now it simply instructs me to RETUNE!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRR!

jacquicousins: Firstly, look at the manual....

Secondly, your retuning the TV, not just one channel. The menu should have something like 'setup' - go to it and then find the heading for 'initial setup' or something similar, and go from there.

As I said, read the manual...
