Dear sir,
I returned India after many years service in the LONDON. I have used BT VISION with broadband facilities. But in India not such system is provided.
Is it possible to use this setup box as only Digital setup box to received Indian channels ?

S.N.Haldar: One of the things to consider is whether broadcasts use the DVB-T digital signal standard or the later DVB-T2 standard.
In the UK, standard definition broadcasts use DVB-T and high definition broadcasts use DVB-T2. Thus, a "Freeview HD" receiver is capable of receiving DVB-T and DVB-T2 signals. I understand that BT Vision boxes are standard definition only, and therefore only contain DVB-T tuners.
I haven't established for certain whether India uses DVB-T2 exclusively, but if the area you're going to has signals that are, the BT Vision box won't pick them up.

I can only get BBC channels on my Technika 19'' set, although I used to get ITV channels on it. What can I do about it? I can get ITV channels on my larger set in the same house.

I asked a silly question by typing Freeview when I meant Freesat,
If I buy a new, smaller, flat screen set labelled "Freeview tuning" will it work on Freesat when connected to a Freesat box and my Freesat dish? I cannot find any small tvs in the shops or online which are Freesat enabled. My dish has leads to three rooms and a simple SD box in each. Nobody can answer this so far. Up to now I had sets which did not specify any sort of tuning.

Having read your follow-up posting here, I would say that the reference to "Freeview" in the earlier posting was correct.
The answer to your question is "yes".
As MikeB said, you would be using the TV as a monitor, i.e. to view what is fed into it from the Freesat box via a HDMI lead or scart lead. The fact that it has capability to receive Freeview is immaterial as that part of it would be left unused.

Alison Fairgrieve: yes, any tv can be connected to a freesat box (by hdmi if you want HD) - its just the same as using a digibox.
You won't find freesat in most tv's - freeview HD is pretty much standard, and obviously a tuner that few people use is an extra cost - you'll find them at the mid high level 40-42in plus. The only 32 tv that do have freesat are the Samsung 6500 & 6800 - a good mid level tv with 400hz screens - around £550. Since a freesat tuner is about £60 for a cheap one, its easier getting the tv, and getting this as well, unless you want a better picture anyway.
However, the excellent 100hz 32in LG N575 does have a sat. Tuner! LG will not talk about it, but they do have one, and although its generic rather that freesat, a look around the web shows it is useable, although the epg will not be the same.
Since the 575 and the lg 620 are good value in 32 anyway, they might be worth a look. If they work, great, if not then just get a freesat box as well.
A word of advice from someone who is paid to advise people about tv's- find the right size. 1.5m away from a 32 is fine, and ten feet for a 40/42in (37s are no longer made) once you have the right size, everything else is easy. Pretty much all of the four major brands tv's will have freeview HD, be smart and have wifi, and are cheaper than ever before.
However, a freesat box (humax sell graded ones at decent prices) should be fine with any existing or future tv.

Andy: What you require is a "Freesat" twin tuner recorder (PVR) such as the Humax as seen on the link, although please note that this device in common with all twin tuner devices (e.g: Sky+ boxes) requires two input feeds from the dish.

I have a Samsung 40" tv with integrated freeview. when I attach my Sky box to the TV and watch SKy I get ghosting in the back ground i'e. freeview running faintly in the background. How can I resolve the problem? and is it posible to turn off the freeview facility?
