jb38:Dear Sir,
As I have not had a reply to my "Quest" question on Tuesday; I can now add further information. Having done a retune on the Sony DVD Recorder and thus re-established Quest as on of the channels available. It still drops out - but only when I turn the Sony off. Leave the Sony on and Quest stays ok. As far as I know; Quest is the only channel so affected. (Signal strength on Quest is 98% and quality is 96%)

Ron Hammond , Where are you mate? which transmitter do you use ?
this helps to give an answer
It is, basically, impossible to lose 1 channel on freeview, if you are using freeview ?

Ron Hammond : With regards to your problem, then as ian from notts has mentioned its not really possible to assess your situation without having knowledge of your location, this preferably being in the form of a post code or one from nearby, e.g: a shop / post Office.
If though the signal drops out when you turn off the Sony then this suggests that the Sony is not capable (or set) to allow RF loopthrough in standby.
If you supply the model number of the device in question this can possibly be checked out for you.

Ron Hammond : In addition to that already said, although having mentioned that as far as you are aware Quest is the only programme channel affected, but if the next time Quest drops out its found that you are still able to view (10) ITV3 / (16) QVC or Drama (20) then those programmes are being transmitted by the same multiplex as used by Quest thereby pointing to the problem being caused by a glitch having occurred in the Sony's memory system and with the only way of rectifying this being by carrying out a "first time installation" or "factory reset" on your recorder rather than a normal auto tune, this advice being irrespective of whatever your location might be.
If you have any problem finding this setting then this can possibly be checked out for you if you provide the model number of the device in question.
By the way, that said in my previous reply, re: loopthrough, still applies if its found that you are unable to view the programme channels mentioned.

Question.....My Panasonic Smart TV (TX-L37ET5B) has lots of Inputs but does not
appear to have any Outputs. That is disappointing,as I often wish to record off-line
signals that I am enjoying on screen.Any ideas.please?

dennis: What are you using to record?
If it's a recorder with a hard drive in (a PVR - personal video recorder) and it has its own tuner in then you should use that tuner as the picture will be better quality than if you took it from the TV via the scart which is analogue which is the reason for loss of quality.
The scart socket, usually the first one only (e.g. EXT1) works both ways.

Dennis: Just to follow up on what Dave Lindsay said, modern TV's are not really designed with that feature in mind. Although many TV's do allow you to record to a USB using the main tuner (and some now have extra tuners to allow you to watch and record at the same time), using the TV's tuner to feed to another box makes no sense. Much better to use a PVR, such as one from Panasonic or Humax. Yours has a USB, so you can play back from a stick, but not (as far as I'm aware) record.

MikeB: I'm hard pushed to recall any analogue television sets that had "outputs". Other than for sound, of course!
