How can I get Italian satellite channels in the UK?
You will need a dish pointed at the Hot Bird 6/7A/8 at 13.0ðE satellite to get:
RAI Uno
RAI Due
RAI Tre
RAI Med
Canale Lavoro
RAI Edu 1
RAI Mosaico
RAI News 24
Camera dei Deputati
TelePace
RAI Sport Satellite
RAI Nettuno Sat Due
RAI Edu 2
RAI Nettuno Sat Uno
Sat 2000
Italia 1
Canale 5
Rete 4
Senato Italiano
See the following for the list of programming:

My mum has a satellite dish aligned to hotbird and currently receives a few Italian channels e.g. Rai 1 and Rai 2. Sometimes the channels are scrambled. She has had her receiver box a long time and i was wondering whether it would be worthwhile purchasing a new box to take advantage of a greater selection of Italian channels. She would also like to receive channels in an additional room in the house. Any advice please.

Christina, see earlier posts in this thread. If you get a tivu box and register it to a codice civil in Italy, you will be able to receive all the tivu channels without the scrambling nuisance. Search on Italian websites for more info on tivu.

hello,
i want to get italian tv in the uk
i currently just have a basic aerial installed and no dish.
was just wondering how big does the dish need to be to get hot bird 13e and could i just use a basic freesat box from the uk and get all the channels or would i have to get the tivusat box to get all the channels?
also would a portable dish work through double glazing and how big would it have to be
thank you

hello
also, could a cisco 4585dvb hd box that i don't use anymore from virgin media cable be used as a set top box to get the channels through a fitted dish pointing towards hot bird.
thank you

Robbie : A 60cm dish with any standard satellite receiver will receive many Italian channels from Hotbird at 13°E, but not all and some programmes will be blanked out. A registered tivu box is necessary to receive all the main channels all of the time. See previous postings in this thread. I am not familiar with the Cisco box, but a cable receiver would not be suitable.

Please could you give me any help or information if possible?....we have a Italian satellite receiver box and until recently been getting all the rai channels plus the media set channels then last november 2013 the media set channels disappeared but still got the rai channels?? So recently from Italy bought and registered a TiVo Sat box thinking we would see all the channels as in Rai and Media set?? But no luck only just get the same channels as before the Rai !? I took the box to my friends house and at his all the channels worked perfectly as he has the same box too so we have ruled out that the box is no good its in complete good working order and so is the old box we had previously mentioned both work at a different address but not at mine! They do work but only the Rai channels ?? We have even tried moving the satellite dish but it makes no difference at all?? Has anyone else had this problem ?? Any help or advice much appreciated..thank you..

Gianna, I have to make-do with free-to-air, so I envy you your Tivu box :-) If, as stated, your dish is correctly aligned to 13°E, your description suggests a problem with your LNB (the frequency converter in front of your dish). Trying your Tivu box at a friend's house is a logical way to exclude the possiblity of a fault in your box. As a first stage the following would be worth checking at your installation:-
Your Tivu box will hopefully include a menu which will display the parameters of transponders received. Check Hot Bird 13B / Hot Bird 13C / Hot Bird 13D (13°E) - All transmissions - frequencies - KingOfSat for the parameters of Italian transponders. The frequency range and the polarisation are set by switching voltages from the box. First check the sat-cable for damage (rodents, weather etc) and that the sat cable connectors at the receiver and at the LNB are intact, clean and not corroded by rain etc. Then, if you only receive V or only H or only higher or only lower frequencies as listed by kingofsat, then the LNB or the cable is defective and needs replacing. If with a new LNB and no evident damage to the sat cable, you are still unable to detect any anomalies, you will need to consult a reliable expert.
Good luck!

Hi I want to receive Italian TV and I have ordered a new tivu sat box.
When it arrives I will register it with an appropriate codice civil. My question is, I was hoping to use my old sky dish to receive the signal, will this be sufficient or do I need to buy a different kind of dish?
Your advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Sergio, your Sky dish will probably be just big enough. When your tivu box is activated, try it and see. There are hundreds of broadcasts on 13°E, so if you receive no signals at all when the dish is aligned to the satellite position at 13°E, the LNB might need replacing to match the box. If you receive some signals, but not the ones you want, check that the dish is correctly aligned to the satellite before investing in a bigger dish. If you have problems, you might need help from someone who is familiar with satellite installations.
